.......STARTING POSITION!......take heed Dodger fans!.....my earlier prediction, that i took a lot of abuse for on these boards, is comin back to roost!.......JUAN PIERRE is gonna be the starter pretty soon!....jones is done, and ETHIER's inconsistency is starting to show!.....hate to say i told you so.....BUT!........well, you know the rest!
now i also know that all of the haters are gonna come pouring out of the woodwork..(dodgertown) , but, you know the outfield is a joke right now, and the Dodgers need to settle it soon.
i am not throwing Ethier under the bus...but...why is he NOT getting PT?....and compare the stats NOW......maybe the cream is starting to rise to the top...so to speak.....and Jones was a joke from the start of the spring....thats why Atlanta dumped him. too much weight, and no DESIRE anymore!
I have no understanding of Juan Pierre starting over Andre Ethier. I can understand Matt Kemp starting in center over Andruw Jones but not Pierre over Ethier. Pierre's cream is in his left arm and that will cost the Dodgers. It is another 2 examples of Ned Colletti making short sighted signings. If the Dodgers intend to play Pierre over Ethier, they will first lose the title to the Diamondbacks, second lose any value for Ethier if they wanted to trade him and third, lose all respect from true baseball fans. He has no power and no arm. I like him as a playtoon player but not at the expense of not playing a power bat and rifle arm. If Juan is going to play full time, trade Ethier now for pitching because we suck. I still say in baseball terms, Colletti struckout. Strike one, Jason Schmidt. Strike two Juan Pierre and strike three Andruw Jones. See the showers Ned and maybe there is a PR job waiting somewhere. Come back Dodgers and beat the Astros.
I am not hating on Juan Pierre, who has been playing much better lately, but I have been saying for weeks that the Dodgers needed to play him in order to increase his trade value. The outfield has too many centerfielders in it right now. The young players have shown they can handle it. Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp need to be there every day. I hope that Andruw Jones can turn it around, but his contract is short and reasonable for a guy who has hit 50 and remains a gold glove defensively.
Maybe the Padres will take him since they cut Jim Edmonds.
I still believe that consistency is the key. You get a set outfield who know they are going to play everyday, and you'll start to see them jell together. Constantly flipping players in and out of lineups, to different positions, takes away from their concentration as hitters. When that happens, you get what happened this weekend. I just find it strange that everyone can see that we need Ethier and Kemp in the outfield everyday except for the ones making the decisions. Right now I would take Pierre over Jones on hitting (I never thought I would say that), but defensively Jones is head and heels better. Use Pierre long enough to trade him and then put Andruw out there. Even if he doesn't hit, he might save a run or two on his defense alone.
iho, I think you jinxed him. Since you posted this he is batting .100, with a .182 obp. The only thing Juan is going to reclaim is a spot on the bench.
Go Dodgers, and of course as long as he or anyone for that matter wears the uniform...Go Juan!
