Well its nice to see that Shields didnt have any lasting effects from the Boston game, what a gem he just pitched!!!! Holding the powerful Angels to 1 hit by a guy batting below .200. I am amazed that he was able to put that last start behind him and come up with an answer like this!!! Longoria hitting his first ever walk off homerun to win it in the 9th, showing us what we can expect from him as he develops for a long time to come, it was a fitting end, it would have been a shame to see Shields get a no decision after this effort. This team is real folks, they have no quit in them, they fight and scratch and crawl to the finish line. The experts all predict that the young arms will fail during the long season, and that the Rays will come down to earth during the long hot summer and wilt away and this start will all be forgotten. I dont see it and this team will make believers out of the naysayers before the year is done. God it feels so good watching this team, after supporting them for the past 10 years. Welcome all bandwagon jumpers, join the fun it gonna be an exciting ride!!!!!!

Of course I miss Shield's 1 hit CG and Sonnanstine's 3 hit CG because of the weather up here in NYC and my satelite does not work in bad weather, but from what I have heard he might have pitched the best game so far this year by any pitcher (numbers wise at least).  Keep in mind that Shields did this against a very hot Angels team and coming off a 13 inning game this was GREAT.  Everybody in the pen should be ready come tomorrow and these last two games have added a lot of momentum going into a tough next 6 games.  If the bats start to heat up, this team is very dangerous.

that was as dominating a performance as ive ever seen a Rays pitcher throw....joe kennedy a while back aginst detroit is the only other one that comes to mind....and what a way to end it...i was starting to get tht feeling that the rays might let James Shields get a no decision...but Evan Longoria found the stroke in the ninth....i do think shields would have been out there in the tenth if he needed to...he only threw 92 pitches through nine....these rays just keep finding ways to win games they would have lost in previous seasons....and seeing the Blue Jays Red Sox and Yankees lose last night made it even better.....lets hope Scott Kazmir can pick up where shieldsy left off last night....
