Here is how I see the Big 12 (granted its early May)
Big 12 South
1. OU (being a homer but...) 12-0
2. Tech (losses at A&M and OU) 10-2
3. Texas (losses at Tech and OU) 10-2
4. A&M (losses at Texas, Oklahoma St, and vs OU) 9-3
5. Oklahoma St (at Mo, Texas, at Tech, Colo, OU) 7-5
6. Baylor (wins vs NW St, Wash St, Iowa St) 3-9
Big 12 North
1. Missouri (loss at Texas) 11-1
2. Kansas (losses to OU, Texas, Tech, and Mo) 8-4
3. Nebraska (losses to V Tech, Mo, Tech, OU, KU, and KSU) 6-6
4. Colorado 5-7
5. Kansas St 5-7
6. Iowa St (wins vs S Dakota St, Kent St, and at UNLV)
Sooners play Missouri in the Big 12 Title and get the win and then go onto play in the National Title game where they re-deem themselves with a win over USC
badazzsooner thats a pretty good prediction i could see it going like that except with your final pick USC. This would be the year to play USC, they will be herting unless one of those horses they have been recruiting as runningbacks busts out and goes crazy this nesxt season.
With the experts calling USC's classes the best for about 4-5 years in a row they should still be the most loaded team in America. But I agree. I only put them because I want a redemption game.
Great post. It's never to early to start this topic. I'd like to add a few scenarios to your prediction.
OU is the best team in the Big 12 and they should win it again this year. I would love a rematch with USC but think tOSU has to easy a road in the Big10. They are getting a ton of love so far and could run the table this year. I would much prefer to play them and become another team to completely out match them in a title game.
If UT finishes 3rd (I'd love to see it) will Mack Brown have a job in '09. I tend to think so but the leash would be mighty short.
I like your predicions in the North but would pick Tech over A&M.
I would love to pick the Huskers to finish better but they have 5 brutal teams to play. They should lose to OU, UM, KU and Tech and will probably lose to Va Tech. They should be a better team than KSU but if they get on a streak could drop that one too. Poor Husker nation. I'm pullin for ya.
Nice Post... Only thing i noticed, you have KU losing to all South teams, when they have Tech and UT at home. They will win at least one of those games. KU will have the best LBs in the Big12 this year genltemen. 9-3 for KU. If you guys win the Big12, please pull in the W in the bowl game. I can stand how every time i get into smack talk with some bigeaster or Pac10 hippy they call KU weak cause OU (the best team in the Big12) cant win a bowl game. Pisses me off. Step up. Again, IF you win the Big12, I think youve got to go rep the whole conference and win the damn BCS or NC game.
Once again, pretty accurate prediction expect youre giving Neb way too much credit. Switch Colorado and Neb and I would call it perfect.
First, let me say I really enjoyed watching KU, the few times I saw them on TV last year. The big man is a heck of a coach. And I was very happy with the way they handled Va-Tech.
But I think you should wait until you put together 2 or 3 good seasons before complaining about another conference team not representing the Big 12 the way you would like.
Other than that......congrats to the Jayhawks, and good luck this coming year....I'm pretty sure you'll need it, because you won't sneak up on anyone after last year.
Unfortunatelly I think Nebraska may end up in that 5 or 6 spot in the North...that is if the North looks to be as tough as they were last year!...I like KSU or Colorado in the 3 spot. If KU had the same schedule as last year, I would say they could win the North, but thier schedule is much tougher now.
KUnKC...tigerfan has a point...you didn't see us calling out the Jayhawks when Roy Williams couldn't win the big one at KU.
2.) Texas Tech 10-2 (Crabtree and Graham. Holy Crap...)
3.) Texas 10-2 (Colt keeps this team afloat)
4.) OK State 6-6 ("I'm a Man! I'm 40!")
5.) Texas A&M 6-6 (Baaadddd season. But not as bad as...)
6.) Baylor 3-9(Poor Golden Bears.)
Northside
1.) Missou 12-0 (Maclin and Daniels...)
2.) Nebraska 7-5 (Great year compared to the past few)
3.) Kansas 7-5 (Lucky season, but not this year)
4.) K - State 6-6 (Joshie begins to bloom)
5.) Colorado 7-5 (The Buffs do better out of conference)
6.) Iowa State 4-8 (Poor Cyclones.)
BIG XII Champion: Oklahoma, but only because of the game Bob Stoops brings. Missouri has more offensive talent, but no heart, defense, and no leader in Chase Daniels.
has anybody heard much out of austin Box, did he do much during the spring games. I figured we would be hearing something out of this guy by now.I think he was originally slated as a starter at Willie linebacker, but he got injured in the spring, like the second day of drills...i guess it all comes down to how he recovers.
