Sign of things to come? Scheduled day off? I was watching the Mariners Rangers game late last night and they had a piece on after the game about Griffey possibly coming back to Seattle here very soon and I know this is coming from the recent USA Today article but honestly, there is a ton of talk about this. Anybody think its possible we ship him off before #600?

NC, I don't think we will ship him before he hits 600. This is classic front office crap trying to get Griffey to hit his 600th at home. We have to sell tickets. I think if the Reds move him, it will be in July. I just hope we can get something out of him.

I definitely see something happening with Griffey but I just don't see the Reds giving him up before he hits 600.  That's like giving away millions and millions of dollars.  People go to GABP just to see Griffey in general, and now that he is closing in to 600 he is bringing in the bank.  I wouldn't be surprised if he hit 600 during the 4 game series against the Marlins or the weekend series against the Indians... That's a long home stand.  Still, it is kinda fishy that he isn't playing tonight. Not a big deal.  Phillips being out is a much bigger deal if you ask me.

Jr. is sick, not sure of what though. And there's absolutely NO chance we trade him before he hits #600 with the way the Reds have been marketing it. "Come down to GABP to see Jr. hit 600!". Not gonna happen. I wish we would though, we could probably get a little more since he would bring in more revenue for the other team.

Yeah I dont see him moving before 600, just throwing it out there. But then again, we've made a ton of suspect moves in the past and I give Jocketty more credit than jumping off the money gravy train that is #600.

The next 3 homers mean only this to me:
Did we win the game?
My hunch is Jr. feels the same way. There's almost no pressure on him to achieve this and it will come and go fairly quietly. So if the Reds intend to market it, they can do so at their whim. It would be fun to see, not life-altering.

My hunch is the guy is headed for the DL very soon. He gets a few swings this weekend to show if he can hit. I think he's got some serious health issues.

There have been rumors about Griffey being traded but the front office has been deny, deny, deny.  There is speculation that nothing will happen before July anyway.  Griffey also has a no trade clause and has stated that no one has approached him about a trade.

I would rather see weak a$$ arm Dunn go and take Patterson with him.  The outfield would be better and faster with Freel and Hopper in on a regula basis.

Griffey is valuable only to the Reds and to teams that have somebody in the minors who isn't ready yet, like Bruce. He is of marginal value to a contender unless it is to be a pinch hitter.

Bad teams can use him.

Griffey doesn't want to go to D.C. or Florida and he doesn't want to be a pinch hitter for a bad team. He wants to play right field for the Reds and win the title.

If he is healthy, he can achieve at least one of those objectives.

This isn't a guy you can shop around like a can of Lysol.

MHO, he stays in Cincy till he retires, then goes back to Seattle for the end of the final year, maybe after roster expansion time ... says his farewells there ... and waits the full 5 to get into Cooperstown.

There is no trade there, folks.
Stop wondering about it.
