With them finally releasing washed up Jim Edmonds. The next person they need to release is Bud Black. This team is on pace to lose 106 games this year.

The team losing has very little to do with Bud Black.  Last year many players had career years this year nothing.  If management backed him up with something of an outfield the team wouldn't be nearly as bad as their record shows.  Next year they get rid of Giles and Hoffman and will finally have a chance at the free agent market.  However, they will still be outbid by most other teams.

The team losing has everything to do with Bud Black. He cannot juggle the lineup to provide better hitting. Look at the Florida Marlins and their $22 Million payroll and they are in first place, look at the players they have. So the team losing has everything to do with Bud Black.

in order for the pads not to lose 90 games, we have to win 60 of 127 games (or 0.472 winning %). What makes you think this Padres' squad can win nearly half their games when we can't hit? I don't see any call-ups other than Headley who might provide a bonafide bat.

I'm not saying we're toast, but unless the bats wake up, we're done before the end of May... esp. considering the way the D-backs are playing.

Can't fault Bud Black when you're in a division with the best NL pitchers in the league and half the stars are nearly ready for retirement. This is a rebuilding team. Like someone above said its probably time to get rid of guys like Maddux, Giles, and Hoffman. Hoffman is stillactually productive, but he is probably best served to share coser time with someone that will take over in the near future.

Sorry to see Jim Edmonds no longer the player he once was.  He definitely was fun to watch.  Next to go should be Luis Gonzalez of the Marlins.  At least Shawn Green finally called it quits in spring training, but that was because no one wanted him after the Mets wouldn't sign him.  Bartolo Colon of the Red Sox should call it quits too.

Now, on to Bud Black of the Padres.  That whole situation was strange.  Still not sure why Bruce Bochy left them and went to the Giants.  That team hasn't won a thing since.  Maybe after the year, the Giants and Padres can swap managers again.  You could always go after Lee Mazzilli and Don Mattingly though.

Thank god someone else see's it, Bud Black has been terrible the whole time he has been here. He kept us out of the playoffs last year and this year it looks like the opposing manager is making the decisions for him.
