The star ledger has a great story on Willie Randolph today... it talks about how they have been a 71-71 team since last june...

and how this is the wrong team for willie he is used to hard nosed players always giving their all so he doesnt think he has to motivate them...

im gonna try to find the link

I read the story and the comments below.  It was a good read and I think it was what most of the fans on here having been trying to state, but his was with more research and a viable arguement.  But what I disagreed with or he was talking in circles about is that he needs to sit guys more particularly With the BP decisions.  Sosa and Heilman both give up more runs when not properly rested, but after their implosion he sends them out the next day to do the same instead of thinking maybe they could use the rest.  That is what we were venting about.

I also tended to agree that we as fans tend to get to caught up and vent about guys that are playing to par.  Everyone makes mistakes and everyone slumps.  I also think he was on the money about Willie needed to change his style and stir things up a bit.  Someone asked the question how many games does a manager win or lose each year.  The answer to that question is 162.  He is responsible for every game.  Just as I am responsible for every task that gets completed or not.  I take that responsibility, that is my sole purpose is to be responsible for these things.  Then I dole out praises to individuals as they make me look good.  Eventually I will help them to get that responsibility for themselves one day.  If Willie can't motivate these guys especially when you have this talent then he is useless to the Mets.  managing = putting the right guys on the field at the right time and motivating your players whether with positive or negative reinforcements.

I was watching a Basketball game the other night and Brian Shaw had once asked Phil Jackson why he never yelled at Kobe Bryant when he seemed to yell at everyone else.  His reply was something very simple, "he is always in attack mode."  That was Willie's Yankees, now he is dealing with the Mets who are not always in attack mode, but tend to coast.  This isn't all the Mets but enough to make a difference.  In fact Beltran started out as a motivator when he came to us and now he seems to coast.  this goes back to additional practice he use to do with his infielders which no longer happen.  Things have definitely been taken for granted for the Mets, but I don't think necessarily firing Willie will solve it.  Willie needs to starting swing the axe first, because if he doesn't I can guarantee the Wilpon's will swing away.  They have invested enough and given enough time to see a change for the better not the worse.

Well said.....You always hear Willie in his press conference post games...yeah we played hard and I applaud them for that....no matter if they lose by 10 or 1 he always says the same damn thing...

It just isnt working any longer...he needs to fire these guys up and quit playing medicore baseball....this team is way better than that...especially with the talent they have....and  figuring that Belran and Delgado cant hit .200 all year...but the questioin
