I see cuts made every season by the team a lot I question and the season begins and I'm like ok not a bad move. Some are like damn it I knew it.
But the one question bugs me of all the guys on the Team why is Correl Buckhalter still on the roster?

He's a good solid player, but I feel he is expendable at this point.

I agree 100% How else are they going to cut? A player they just traded for or Tony Hunt? No. Buck isn't a bum or anything resembling that. He's done the job when he's been called upon. Unfortunately it's a crowded backfield and someone has to go---he's just going to be a victim of the numbers game.

He is indeed a good solid player, but I think he might not make the cut.

When Correll Buckhalter is healthy he is the best backup we have. We never even saw Lorenzo Booker play.... maybe he is better than Buck but we don't know that yet. We do know that Tony Hunt is not as good as Buck.... not from what we saw in pre-season last year, and the few plays that he was in during the regular season.
In one game that Brian Westbrook was out last year Buck rushed for over 100 yards on 17 carries. Buck had 4 rushing TD's last year... that's more than Booker and Hunt have combine for their career.
The Eagles re-signed Buck as a free agent a year ago because they like him. If there is going to be someone cut between Buck and Hunt, I think it will be Hunt, unless he has a great pre-season.
But that's just what I think...... I could be wrong.

I agree. I think Buck is a good solid player and I remember a few years back when he was fresh off his knee surgery and was having a great preseason and blew out his knee on his first carry during the regular season (don't quote me on that, but I believe that's what happened). I like the guy and I think he's a good change of pace player. He may get cut, he may not. I think he's right on the border there. He'll definitely be limited in playing this year with the addition of Booker, but I like Buckhalter and I hope the Eagles keep him on the roster. I trust him.

We must keep Buck-We dont know Booker or Hunt on the level of letting our main dependable back go. He's reliable when called upon in all areas runs, catches, blocks and SPT. West will not play all 16 games(it hurt to say that but lets be real) If Hunt and Booker look great I say we still keep him and use him in a trade-backs go down all the time(look @ TB last year) and I'd hate to cut somebody and they turn into a Ryan Grant!(he was traded for a 5th I believe)

Buck had over 5 yards per carry and 4 touchdown in the ground. Westbrook only had 7 rushing. I dont see any reason to cut Buck just to keep Hunt since he was a 3rd rounder

I think it all depends on what happens in the Preseason .. If the new arrivals step up, or Buck appears to have lost a step, things could change. The Birds have shown that they are not afraid of making changes if it will help the team (or save money).
A big part will be how those new players perform in areas like Special Teams. I think we are going to see a big push to improve and excel there.

Buckhalter stays unless he is traded, he is a good No2 RB and I think they have to keep 4 this season. With Mahe replaced there is no need to take up a RB roster spot open for the returner so they have space and no reason to get rid of him for the sake of it.

Buck is a solid player, but unfortunately, you guys are probably right. That backfield is way too crowded. Someone's gonna go away...it wont be Westy...it wont be booker...it might be Hunt, but I don't like that idea...Hunt is the closest thing we have to a big back. It could be Moats...hmmm. I think Corey is a great back-up to Westy...but Booker could fill that role better than Corey can. GO BIRDS!!!

I think most of you are forgetting that we'll cut Ryan Moats before any running back. And its a shame Moats never really had a chance to start in the nfl... he seemed so promising.

buckhalter is a good running back and knows the system as well as anyone. he's better than moats and better than hunt. either of those get cut before he does.

Anytime you have to start a sentence with when he's healthly there's a problem. He's been off the field more than he has been on the field the past 5 seasons. Players on the team that get my respect Brian Dawkins, Brian Westbrook, and even Mc Nabb these got play hurt and make it look easy with injury's that would have most of us have our old ladies wait on us hand and foot. They are Galdiators and for that I salute them for what they done for this franchise.
Comparng Buc's one season we might as well be talking about Freddie Mitchel sure he had a 4 -27 and two other dynamic cacthes that kept our season going and pushed us past the 2nd round in the playoffs but in the end it didn't make up for his poor showing the previous seasons and just like that he was gone.
Corel has not bled Green and I'm just not chaning my stance on that...

is Correll Buckhalter better than moats, yes. at this point we know that moats is not a back who can run between the tackles or pass block he was good for the ocassional outside strech run and short screen pass. and now that he has had 2 season ending injuries he can officaly be considered damaged goods. now Tony Hunt i don't think we really saw enough of him in 2007 to make a fair evaluation on him to say that buckhalter is better than hunt. alot can change from a players rookie to sophmore year in the NFL. mainly i think his ability to digest the playbook will have vastly improved from last year to now and there is just more raw talent in Tony Hunt than Buckhalter. last year trotter got cut and all philly fans were surprised, i say don't be shocked if buckhalter gets cut because really he has reach his potential as a player. if westbrook would happen to go down with a season ending injury (god forbid) buckhalter isn't the guy who is going to step up and rush for 1000 yards in 9 or 10 games. i feel Tony Hunt or Lorenzo Booker have much more of a chance of doing that because they have youth and a (serious)injury free history.
