Pathetic...And of course 13 minutes later Vernon Wells hits a HR with a runner on base, likely won't matter because it was 3-0 before that...When it doesn't matter, count on the Jays!
Yeah, this is definitely the worst I have seen from the Jays offensively in a few years. There is just no excuse for how bad the Jays have been at driving in runs. There have been a number of games this season that could have been easily won, with baserunners being stranded on second and third consistently. You are so right, pathetic is the best evaluation. The pitching on the other hand has been outstanding excluding Doc's 5 run inning yesterday and the grandslam in extra innings versus the Rays. I can only hope the offense can get something going. I don't quite know if Kevin Mench and Brad Wilkerson are the answer. I am sure it doesn't help that Gibbons changes the line-up every freaking game....
I am sure it doesn't help that Gibbons changes the line-up every freaking game....Everyone in the world realizes this EXCEPT Gibbons...WHY J.P., WHY DO YOU KEEP EMPLOYING THIS IDIOT!
Yeah the offense is just terrible. middle of the pack in avg. but 27th in RBI!!! Choking again and again with runners in scoring position. We need clutch hitting, and Gibbons changing the lineup card every week isn't letting anyone get comfortable. What's really sad is that its wasted solid pitching by our staff. 6th in era and some of the guys (Accardo, Mcgowan, Burnett) haven't really hit their stride. I've been one of the most patient with both Ricardi and Gibbons, but for Gibbons it's time he was fired. We have the talent to be much, much better than this, and his inability to get anything out of our lineup, which has potential to be driving in a solid amount of runs, is inexcusable.
The Jays' 5 game win streak was their 3rd of that length, in the last 350 plus games, with Gibbons at the helm. It is the most they have won in a row. Unfortunately, these streaks have been countered by more losing streaks of this length and also some longer losing streaks.
Paul Godfrey, the weasel, made one of the biggest mistakes ever when he resigned Ricciardi to a contract extension. This idiot, actually extended the tenure of an unproven loser in Ricciardi. This move alone should have gotten Godfrey fired.
JP Ricciardi signed an unproven Manager in John Gibbons. The record I stated above is actually a highlight of Gibbons' career here. Though, Gibbons may end up succeeding as a Manager somewhere in the majors, down the road, this ball team has never responded to the Jekyl and Hyde butterball.
I put the onus directly on Ted Rogers' shoulders. What kind of man would let this fiasco continue. People are already discussing next year a mere month and a 1/2 into this years campaign. I still see a chance, if someone would have the gonads necessary, to get rid of everyone right now. Godfrey, Ricciardi, and Gibbons have been perpetual losers with Godfrey responsible for most of it. Can them all and perhaps salvage the season. If Rogers doesn't have the back bone to cater to the people have made this organization (the fans), then at the very least, fire Gibbons and try a new direction as the old one has never worked.
It makes me furious to see folks thinking about next year but they are right because as long as the failed motivator Gibbons takes up all of that space in the dugout, this team will fail. If a move is not made yesterday, then perhaps Ted Rogers will do everyone a favor and sell the team to someone who gives a shitake.
I am a life long Blue Jays fan and I will not go and support this team until they fire idiot Gibbons!!! He changes the lineup every single night, and puts Rios at the leadoff postion which makes absolutly no sense what so ever. Oh yea and our brilliant GM also dropped our biggest bat when the guy has started slow like the past couple of years anyways, they even have to still pay him his full contract until the end of the season. When will this team stop underachieiving and get someone that actually bring this team to the next level!!!
