Okay, there is a Spa, a Cafe', etc....but this is what I feel is probably really necessary.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the confessional, it is where Roman Catholics go into a closed little room, and behind a curtain tell the priest their sins. The priest then has them say a few "Hail Marys" and "Our Fathers" and all is forgiven. Not a bad system.

So here is the place to admit your "sins" about racing...and be forgiven. (A sin can also just be something that was a truly embarrassing moment) Of course, we all know that we aren't perfect...so we will probably continue to make mistakes....

I'll start (maybe this thread is just my way of asking for forgiveness from you the posters)

1) I really was happy that Kyle and Jr. crashed..I love controversy

2) Back when Carl Edwards was dating Amanda Beard, I started hitting on her at one of the local tracks when they had a "NASCAR" night. (I wasn't aware of who she was, or who she was with..but I found out pretty quickly)

3)When I was at the NA$CARE race at Las Vegas last year, I dropped a hot ash on the sweatshirt a Tony Stewart fan had just purchased who insulted my wife (she was cheering for Gordon)

I have more...but I have to get going on that pennance.

Jak, I was one of the happiest people around when the caution came out and closed the field between Jr. and Bush,  Why?  Because I knew either Kyle was going to win or Junior was going to get wrecked.

Now I want everyone to understand what I'm going to say is the real truth of my feelings that night.  I was right in the middle of a pity party because Michael had been parked. I felt the penalty was unfair and that at most he should have been penalized 2 laps.  Section was trying to get me to understand that the penalty was just but I didn't want to hear that and I told him so.  Check out the race thread that night.

I also knew that when the field was closed and the wreck would happen I got excited, why BECAUSE I WANTED HALF THE RACING WORLD TO BE UPSET WITH ME, NOT AGAINST ME, And it would allow me to vent my anger out on them because I knew Junior Nation would be all upset over a racing deal.

I will also confess that deep down I wanted Junior to win, why?  Because I new my firends Frady, (and yes your lack of involvement on the board made me think you had made the race) and JB were at the race and it would have been nice to know they got to see their driver win a race.

After I calmed down on Saturday, I let the "Nation" get to me a little and yes I have done my part to antaginize them the first part of the week.

So for all of this I beg forgiveness from the real Junior Fans, those who realize racing accidents do happen.

I'm a Junior fan, and when he took the lead Saturday Night, I would have taken a $100 bet that he was not going to win.  And I would have been right.  Just sucks that as a fan, I have no more confidence than that!!

BTW mikey, I was not at the race.  I was diverting my future brother-in-law from my sisters Bachlorette party!!  But Thanks for hoping I got to see it anyway!!!

Not exactly. He did approach us (he had been changing into his driving clothes) and gave me a glare that would either freeze my beer, or make me wish that I was wearing Depends. Thankfully, the beer got colder. There was an exchange of "pleasantries" where he made it pretty clear how things were, and would be. Basically end of story.

Now, for a real confession:

When I think about deaths in racing, Dale Sr.'s doesn't bother me that much

He lived a full life: died doing what he loved the most; saw his children grow; had a beautiful wife; was an icon of his sport.

Now, for one that bothers me, consider Tim Richmond. Everything that Dale Sr. had, Richmond didn't. NA$CARE wouldn't let him race due to bigotry, ostracized by everyone in the sport: minus Kyle Petty and Rick Hendrick, etc... a real tragedy.

Or the one that personally haunts me....Swede Savage. I was at Indy in 1973 and saw the wreck that finally claimed his life. Watching the car spew everywhere, and the flames, and the small compartment with him keep tumbling. Seeing a crew member run towards the car only to be hit by a fire truck that was going to the scene, and the crew member flying threw the air also to his death. It just scarred me.

So, I guess that is another "sin" I have to purge. And I know that it might offend some, but I am using the confessional, so forgive me.

I confess that if Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Earnhardt got into a bad wreck and left them unable to compete for the rest of the year (no permanant injuries and they came back the next year) I would probally cheer once I knew they were alive.... i guess that makes me a jerk.

I will also confess that I think Danica Patrick would kick Dale (crybaby) Jr.'s butt and when it did happen if Junior's dad were alive, he would demand that junior change his last name ;-) (ok so i embellished, I don;t really think any of that I just wanted Jr. nation's blood pressure to collectively rise sky high hahahaha)

She might sing him into submission: (an old favorite of mine)

I know that I start to feel a 'lil light headed from the blood loss out of my ears every time I hear this.

Just so you know, part of this threads idea was to show the human side of us...the people who post on this board. We claim to be a group that is "friendly", but if we really want to be friends, we share the moments that maybe show vulnerability. I want everyone here to know the parts of me that aren't perfect, my humane side. (I assumed that you all figured I was perfect before)

Not everybody here will want to open up about an embarassing moment. Or something that might offend another poster. But, at the same moment, if we do share some of these things, then maybe someone might understand why we have an opinion that we do. (for example, I never post/comment on anything that relates to Dale Sr,'s death. I am aware of how it might be an emotional moment to them, but I am pretty indifferent)
