Wow. It would be hard to only go 10-2 with that.

They are pretty lucky to play Auburn at home, but they always have a good defense and are REALLY good at stopping the spread, should be a good game. They also play AT Colorado, which is an up and rising program. South Florida, Pitt, Rutgers and Louisville could be conference challenges. It's still a better schedule than most in the Big East.

Not sure what the point of this thread is, but to me that seems like a pretty good schedule.

Note, WVU has to play all Big East teams every year, and the governor of West Virginia has all but mandated that WVU play Marshall each year. Like 95% of other schools, they also play 1 D1-AA program each year.

So their three other games are Auburn, Colorado, and east Carolina. Seems like a reasonable line up IMHO. Colorado and East Carolina are both tough, solid teams, and Auburn should be a good test.

Okay.  Since your tacit assertion is that WVU plays a soft schedule, let's add a few comments.

In the portion of the schedule they CAN control (that would be the out of conference games), you have the following:

Villanova, East Carolina, Colorado, Marshall, and Auburn

Villanova is a full-fledged member of the Big East in all sports, but does not compete in the BCS subdivision; they're trying to get their program up from the FCS, as did UConn four years ago, and Florida Atlantic before them.  Scheduling this game is like FSU, UF, or Miami trying to toss a bone to an up-and-comer in-state in FAU or FIU.

East Carolina was a very good mid-major last season that won its bowl game against Boise State.  This would be like scheduling Boise, Fresno State, or Hawaii.

Colorado is a Big XII team on the upswing.  Not terribly long ago, the Buffaloes were a national player before their scandal years--having them on the slate would be like scheduling Alabama OOC.  (Before you jump up and down, remember that the two played one another in a bowl game, and that the Buffs only lost to the Tide by less than a touchdown in a very close contest.)

Marshall is a contractual in-state game; the 'Eers have to play it (says the Governor and legislature).

Auburn is an SEC power three years removed from an undefeated season and AP National Title.

Georgia plays a very difficult schedule, including quality OOC matchups against Georgia Tech and Arizona State, among others.  Why do you feel the need to pounce on another team's schedule?

I thought they "split" the national title or something like that back in 04 ?

Like the previous poster said, they won the AP title.  Hence why my original post said, "AP National Title."

I assume that the creator of this thread is hoping for the WVU contingent to come on here and scream and rant about being legit.... Then, ultimately someone will bring up the Sugar Bowl...He'll reply ,"Is that the only thing you people talk about?"  It's pretty sad, but it seems like some of the Georgia fans have taken an "Us Against the World" attitude (just like some WVU fans did 3 years ago)...I can only hope that others don't make generalizations about all UGA fans b/c of a few bad apples...Most Dawgs I talk with are very cool...

Having said all that....breaking a new coach and losing over half of our defense, I'll take 10-2 and a Big East Championship in '08...
