The Pens are 8-1 in the playoffs.  The Flyers got pushed to the brink of elimination by a bad Washington team.

Despite all the talk about "all-world" goalie Biron, he's giving up a full goal more per game than Fleury is.  Fleury's save percentage is 24 points higher.  Fleury has 2 shutouts in 9 games; Biron has 1 in 12.  And if the best you guys can do is pin your hopes on your goalie, that means you have zero confidence in the rest of your team.

If the Caps gave you guys all you can handle, you have no chance against the Pens.  Youth and talent will prevail over old guys with no skill that play dirty.

66- Nice post...I don't think the Flyers are as good as the Rangers and we just thrashed them in 5. I see the same thing in this series. They are underestimating our ability to beat them. Fact is both of these teams are capable of keeping the other out of the playoffs.

LETS GO PENS:   IN 5 TO STAY ALIVE

The Penguins faced two fading teams. The Flyers faced two strong ones.

The Penguins facesd two teams with weaker offenses than the Flyers did.

If you think that facing two weaker teams prepares you for the Flyers, you are making a mistake. The Flyers, on the other hand, faced quality opponents, and did not have an easy go of it in their first series. If you think that DIDN'T help prepare them for your team, you make yet another mistake.

And by all means, please continue to complain that the Flyers "play Dirty". They aren't the Broad Street Bullies anymore, and have not been since the 70's. They are a deep, strong team that can beat your Penguins if the Penguins don't play their best Hockey.  If the Peguins don't respect the Flyers, they could have trouble beating them.

No one is "underestimating" the Penguins. The Penguins are favored, and rightfully so, as they are a quality hockey team. They Flyers played the Pens well this season, and both teams are coming off of fine performances.

But - do we think we have a chance? Of course. We HAVE to think that, or we aren't the fans our team deserves.

"Flyers fans really think they have a chance?"

Well... if we continue to loose player after player we don't. Two bad injuries with bad timing sure doesn't help the Flyers causes against a more talented team.

Then again... if and when the Pens play Detroit in the Cup finals...do Pen fans really think they have a chance?

You're fooling yourself if you think they do.

Then again, that' why they play the games genius.

According to your theory the Flyers should have packed it in against number 1 rated Montreal. I'm sure there were morons then saying the Flyers didn't have a chance either.

If/when we get to the finals, why wouldn't we have a chance?  We got there.   I wouldn't have said that the Flyer didn't have a chance against us.  Slim, but a still a small chance.

Sure, we'd have a chance.  We haven't played them all season, except for the preseason.  And if teams haven't played us since the aquisition of Hossa and/or Fluery after returning from injury, then they are in for a surprise.

Not saying, by any means, it will be easy.  Penguins haven't been dominant since the first round, but the good teams will win the close ones.  I think a Detroit/Pittsburgh final will be very close...6-7 games for the winner.

I just didn't care for the title of this thread... "Flyers fans really think they have a chance?"

It was started before the injuries the Flyers faced.

I think the Flyers would have had a decent chance... probably about 40% of winning the series at the start of this. With the two injuries they faced, not only do they loose two good players, but the other guys are getting worn down because of all the minutes.

I know all teams have injuries... just bad timing that it happened right now.

I think the Flyers chances have slipped to about 10% because of the injuries... unfortunate if your a Flyers fan.

Those are the breaks.

Head to head against the Red Wings... I'd give the Pens about a 30% shot at beating them. I'd give the Flyers (if they were healthy) about a 10% shot.

I'd much rather see the Pens beat the Soviet Union then lose to them.
