Troy Cages' uncle has posted that Troy will be leaving UNLV after summer classes. He has discussed things with the coaching staff, and it looks like there will only be limited minutes for him in the future.
Here's his uncles post.
guys! i guess before someone else post it, i will, cage is leaving after the summer. After talking to coach, it seems like there wasnt a lot of minutes for him next year. We will move on and not waste another year. It has been great, troy and I love you fans, and we will always be part of the rebel family. Good luck in the comming years. Troy has several option right now, we will look at all, then make a choice. As much as he would have like to stayed, this is not working for him.
Classy Uncle, classy kid! Best of luck Troy!

OK guys! Now you can really play around with schollies. That means UNLV could take two transfers this year! If they were to grab Jasper & Thomas, and still be able to pick up a quality guard, maybe we should get together and put a deposit on a Luxury Suite at the T&M! Seats will be starting to go at a premium. Do you think this talk took place with LK because he had two transfer possibilities waiting out there?

putting your eggs in one basket doesn't work. If Trent is ready to commit, great! But don't pass up talent that wants to come, if he wants to come. Trent has a lot of people courting him. To depend on him signing if you want a big man is taking a long shot. A bird in the hand 'ya know. If he doesn't work out in the classroom, he'll be shown to the door quick enough. Don't know how he can be worth strong consideration by UCLA and is not good enough for UNLV. He wouldn't be my first choice for a transfer this year, but he's my second. His numbers for a PF in his freshman year were the kind of numbers you'd expect from a Junior.
As far as Jasper goes, too many people I respect have nothing but good things to say about his game. The only knock is that he's not a big scorer. But he's got speed, confidence, can rebound like crazy at 6'6 for a PG, and everyone says he's got basketball "smarts". Knows how, who and when to dish the ball.

I was kinda hoping that Bayno would look at Cage for LMU. I don't think he's interested in CSU. His plans are going to Dental School, and he might return to UNLV to do that.

Nation8, have a little class. In all the posts I've read on Kentuckys threads, I don't see people begging Jasper to leave. You are ready to kick everyone off the team that doesn't fit your profile for a UNLV bball player. Maybe you should start emailing Coach Kruger to let him know your thoughts, he may hire you as a recruiter. As far as Cage goes, I seem to remember back to pretty much everyone saying he'd be the one to transfer almost a month ago. Wish him well, I'm sure he is sick knowing he is leaving a program that is only going to continue getting better. It's not like Cage ever acted in the manner of the 3 goofs Kruger dismissed last year. His uncle showed class in his post, Cage showed class in sticking through this season. Maybe we could show a little class regarding Cage and Wallace, don't you think Nation8???

I agree, the guy was not a star and might not have worked out like everyone hoped but the guys is/was a rebel and we should wish him well.
On the other view, he has now opened the door for another player to come in. There are many guys that UNLV is recruiting, off the top of my head I can name: Thames, Solomon Hill, Elijah Johnson, Clerance Trent, Anthony Marshall, Quincy Acy. This isn't even counting transfer possibilities. I'm beginning to think that we will only get one of the 3 (ej, marshall, trent) that we want. These guys can play for major programs and I don't know if we are the favorite, at this point, for any of them. Geez, the floog gates open again on possibilities.

Here's wishing Troy great success in his future endeavors. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that Troy simply wasn't going to play much next season. The best scenario for everyone is that he sign on with a school that could really use his talents, and that he shines for his new team.
I'll remember with fondness Troy's breakaway dunk at the end of the Kent State game. Good luck, and best wishes Troy!

sdfan-
If grades are that much of an issue, maybe no one will recruit him. We hear rumors, but unfortunately cannot back up anything with fact. If UNLV takes a transfer, I hope its Jasper. But, anything can happen and most often does!
Troy-
They say you might return for Dental School at UNLV. You were a good person & student-athlete. I'm sorry you didn't get to be a role player at UNLV, but the talent pool has gone up in your two years here, and it wasn't meant to be. Thanks for being a Rebel, and good luck to you!

All you need to get into UNLV as an undergraduate is a 3.0 GPA and a 20 or 22 ACT. I don't know if that applies to transfers or not. I for one do not want to see any players at UNLV with academic problems, I don't think we can afford it.

If being honest is not showing class them im sorry.
But Troy Cage is horrible...this is exactly wht kruger told him but of course he sugar coated it so he didnt come off as rude and this is Cage is gone.
Kendall get your bags ready you goof. Because he goin to be warming the bench for my man wink...trevon and Oscar...
AS far as Cage umm you win some you loose some good luck at humbolt state or Coppin State, or where ever you end up. I definately wont miss you hopping an limping around the court and degracing the UNLV RUNNIIN Rebels.
I see us getting Jasper....Malcom is an athlete not a STUDENT athlete so dont see him coming here. I see us picking us getting to more solid hs players for 09 to go along with hawkins and lopez. GO REBELS
