the Packers will be nothing without favre
Wow. Nothing without Favre.
I can't tell you how many times I have heard fans across the league and especially from Chicago say they hoped Favre plays for several more years, because he single-handedly loses as many or more games than he wins. But now that he is gone, they are saying the Packers are a worse team. Which is it?
We can debate all we want, but if you watched the draft, most ESPN analysts have pegged the Packers as the favorite to win the division in 2008. They will probably not win 13 games, but 11-5 should win the division. They could go 8-8. We'll find out. The Vikings will challenge for the division title.
Many Bears fans would rather go 2-14 and beat the Packers twice than go 14-2 and lose to the Packers twice. Packers fans will take 13-3 with 2 losses to the Bears every year. It's simple football smarts.

Urlacher is the best player the Bears have had since Walter Payton. He is one bad dude on the field, and a very, very smart player. That said, while he had very good stats last year, he did not have a career year. Remember, he was once Defensive Player of the Year. Last year was not even close to his best year. Probably because of his neck/back issues. He obviously could not dominate over the course of a season like he has in the past.
The Bears will be better than last year. The O-line must improve, but it is still fairly old, and a rookie lineman may not make an immediate improvement. If Forte can make an impact as a rookie, Benson will be relegated to a relief rol. Benson's attitude will be a cancer throughout the season. Benson is just not serious about rehabbing from surgery, and focusing on getting better at his craft. Rather than partying on his boat as often as he has this offseason, he could have been working out more and studying more film in the offseason. That's what Peyton Manning does.
I'm not even going to speculate about the QB situation. It's too unpredictable. Rex is either great or awful. Orton is what he is. A Trent Dilfer-type. Who knows who will even start at this point? We'll see how the QB position grades out in due time.

Those same experts pegged the Bears to win the North in 2007 and eventualy lose out to the Saints in the NFC Championship game LMAO, shows you excatly what the experts know right ???
The also gave NY a ZERO, maybe even a negative ZERO chance in hell to beat the Patriots !!!!
I don't put stock in anything these ESPN homers say, like you mentioned, the Packers could win 13 again or go 8 - 8 , who knows !!!
The Lions could win (11) games and steal the Division (of course hell would freeze over but you never know)
I'm not a Bear homer or anything, I know we have alot of questions that need answering but I still feel that a healthy Defense in 2007 would have made us a (10) game winner and that would have made us a wild card playoff team so who knows what will happen in 2008. Injury is the single most equalizing factor in football, if the Colts or Patriots lose Manning and Brady to IR early in 2008, I would be willing to bet both teams finish .500 or worse and miss out of the playoffs..........

First of all what am i doing on your thread? i honestly wanted to know what most people thought about the Bears this year, coming from bears fans. besides, on Packers threads its everyone agreeing that we're winning in double digits this year. boring, i like to argue.
Secondly, ok, the willis statement was rash. i take it back. i didn't look in to every stat like i could've. however, looking toward next year, i say urlacher declines a little more, and (not sure about his age) but i like Lofa Tatupu for DMVP maybe. he can do a lot.
I agree that your defense will be dominating without injuries, but what last year proved is that all players on that D are susceptible to the injury (not that any players are, but we actually saw it happen with the bears, making it obvious it could happen again). however, while the cliche is that defense wins championships, that didn't do you so well in the Super Bowl. then the super bowl loser curse struck and look where you came.
But you won't win if you can't score, and based on your offense... you can't score. expecially with your schedule. i havent looked at it in depth, but the Vikings, pack, and all afc teams you play have decent to good D's. fortunately you play detroit twice.
Who said sexy rexy has a great year? might wanna start stretching cuz your foots going in your mouth by the end of the season. My predictions for the standings
Packers- 11-5 first place, second seed or third.
Vikings- 10-6 wild card
Bears- 9-7 maybe second wild card spot.
Lions- 4-12- they lose all six division games and all four against the AFC South. they take Ray Mauluga, Malcolm Jenkins, or James Laurinitis with their high pick in the draft to help that D.

cherokeereds- sorry i don't check my computer hourly. so i missed a few days. sorry you missed me.
ASlaug75- i was looking for some reactions, but i was also looking for an honest thread. i see now that i can't get both. my bad. As far as European soccer rivalries i've heard that those can get bad but unfortunately my cable package doesn't get the premier league games i'd like to watch. expecially everton. tim cahill rocks. Look, i know that all Bears fans arent retarded. but living in a chicago town and hearing some of the arguments the high school bears fans make... there are definately some less-than-intellegent ones out there.
CubBearFan12- where did i give Rodgers more credit than Favre? nowhere. Favre was the best ever (different debate, maybe later). i'm just saying Rodgers won't be as bad as everyone is pegging him.
STBF- name this trade i have no idea what you're talking about.
Gurthee- you're right who we have on offense obviously affects how we cover points.
Capone_Style- about that HOF quarterback thing, there was an interesting post about that on another thread i was on, you might want to read that. Packers WL Preds from my page fi you're interested
BearBeerFan- never said Barnett was better than Urlacher.
All you Urlacher posters... yea him not doing as well as he usually does is a down year. he in no way had one of the best seasons, as proved by the DMVP. while he got a few votes, he wasn't even considered for winning it.
dat_dude- you're right i'm obviously a closet bears fan. and as for Barnett being taken down by the ref well duh he did. so would urlacher. or anyone who wasn't expecting a REFEREE to come up behind them and pull them down. walk up behind anybody on the street try to take them down and you'll succeed. nice try though.
