I'm just throwing this idea out there because I was wondering what other people thought about it. The Eagles are still looking for a trading partner to dispose of Lito Shepard. They do not want draft picks instead they want a starting quality WR to add to their team. Lito is a Pro- Bowl corner and still young and we have a plethera of WR's on our team. I think it would be benificial to both teams if we would swap Lito for Donald Driver. I know he is our number 1 guy and a fan favorite but he's getting up there in age and we have plenty of talent behind him. Trading him now we could get another pro-bowl corner to back up Woodson and Harris I don't know how long they can play at this high of a level.
Any thoughts?

When I started reading, I thought that this was a great idea, but I was thinking we would trade one of our other receivers.
No way would I give up Donald Driver. It makes no sense to give our top receiver for another guy who would just be a backup. If we could get Lito Sheppard for Koren Robinson or Ruvell Martin, I would be all for it. Robinson isn't my favorite player and we do have plenty of receivers, and I like Martin, but let's face it, he's expendable.
I wouldn't want to trade any of our other guys away, and honestly, I don't think we need to. I am happy with our team and with the CB position. I don't think we'll have any major problems the way our team is now, and maybe we shouldn't mess with that.

Yeah. I posted a very similar thought on draft day when we took Jordy Nelson. Lito Sheppard is too injury-prone. Even if he is younger than Donald Driver, Driver is still way more durable and has been to more Pro Bowls. If we traded away Driver, we should get at the very least one second round pick with Sheppard, if not a first or a second and third or second and a fourth. Their values just don't equate. Driver would become their WR1 while Sheppard might be able to rotate in for Al Harris or Charles Woodson.
If we were to trade straight up, then we'd probably have to give up Koren Robinson.

I agree with the other posters. Trading a WR to get Lito Sheppard is a good idea. But we would be getting the short end of the trade if it was a straight up swap for Donald Driver. With Aaron Rodgers taking over at the starting QB position this year, we can use all the reliable targets we can get (and Driver has been consistently good for years).
If the deal was sweatened, it may be worth it. But if we can make the trade straight up for another receiver such as Ruvell Martin or Koren Robinson, that would be a good move. I'm not sure the Eagles would go for a trade unless they were convinced that receiver becomes their #1 guy though.
Another possibility could be Martin or Robinson and a mid to low draft pick for Sheppard.

You guys are right. I forgot he was injury prone. I just thought a probowl WR for a pro bowl CB would be an even trade but him being injury prone makes the trade not worth it. He would be our Nickel guy though and the Nickel guy is as much of a starter as Brady Popinga is. Also I feel uneasy about Harris and Woodson, I have a feeling they both could miss some games this year. I like the idea of Lito and a 2nd for Driver but trading Koren and Ruvell for Lito would not work the Eagles GM is fairly smart and would wait for us to cut one of those guys and than get him for free.

I also like the idea but then I saw Double D on your post if we can give up a pick next year a second round pick and Martin or Robinson I'd say take it but no way do we trade a player of his skill to any one and they also play in the NFC so it could turn out to bit us later.

Shaun Bodiford, Koren Robinson, Ruvell Martin, or Chris Francies. Pick two and make a 2 for 1 swap.
I'm not sold on Lito Sheppard staying healthy, so there is no way the Packers should trade a starting quality WR for a second string CB or Nickel/Dime DB. Someone said that the Eagles GM was smart enough to hold out for a starting quality WR. No GM in the leauge is going to offer a starting WR for the Eagles backup CB with a history of injury - no matter what Lito's done in the past.

And no GM in the league with a CB worth a damn would trade him for 4 heaps of scrap metal like the 4 WR's you just named. That's ridiculous. Lito is better than a "nickel or dime corner" whether you'd like to admit it or not. He's not a top 5 corner, but he's better than your 3rd and 4th string receivers.

He is better than any 2 of the above mentioned WR's, but they're our 5-8 wide outs. There's no way we would trade any of our top 4 receivers for Shepherd straight up.
