Why every year when NY falters slightly does the media insist on ripping on the team?

I don't get it, are they fans? Are they NY's? Or are they just self serving jerks?

This year particularly we needed to support the young players to help their confidence and improve them as players.

Now, don't get me wrong if they are making mistakes Girardi or Guidre should be ripping them a new one. But that is their job not the NY tabloids.

Now we have two ultra talented kids who may HATE playing for the Yankees forever. They may not mature as players until they leave the city and go on to become all-stars. And to top it all off both players have zero trade value right now.

Confidence is Hughes and Kennedy's problem, thats why Joba has thrived in NY (just as talented much more confident). Thats why they walk so many batters. The NY media needs to cater to the team, not rip them apart.

One more thing if these writers are not Yankees fans, then DO NOT LET THEM WRITE ABOUT THE YANKEES IN NEW YORK.

It's been proven over and over again, the New York media is rough. They don't cut anybody a break. However, I don't think that they they're to blame for Hughes' and Kennedy's lack of confidence. The fact that they have been terible is what's effecting their confidence. Not being able to get out of the 3rd and 4th innings is what's effecting their confidence.

I agree with you, the media does just need to shut up sometimes, but we know that they won't... ever. On the flip-side though, if they were pitching well, the media would be praising hem just as much. In New York, it's all about performing and winning... nothing else. Hughes will be alright, once he's 10%. Kennedy, let's just hope he can live up to the hype.

One more note, Ron Guidry isn't with the Yankees any longer. Dave Eiland is the pitching coach.
