Don't give up on Mulder yet, he was AL Cy Yound runner-up in 2001 and was a leading candidate for AL Cy Young in 2004 for the A's before completely falling apart in his last few September starts. Mulder was always very insistent on working deep into games, which is probably why he is having shoulder issues now. Hopefully La Russa will cut him off at 95-100 pitches or 7 innings, whichever comes first, every start once Mulder heals.

Actually, according to Schilling, if Clemens was on steroids and should give up his 2001 Cy Young, then Mulder would be the de facto winner.

95-100 pitches? This guy is going to be lucky if he can throw 20 without getting hurt again. I feel for the guy. He seems like a pretty good dude, and you never hear anything bad about him, but I think his career is over. Good job trading Haren for him.

Maybe being a starting pitcher isn't in his future?  Lefty relievers are always valuable.  Is it the number of pitches in a game or is he not able to bounce back between games?  I'm not ready to give up on him yet.  Coming back from those surgeries will take a while and you have to expect some set backs.
