I'm not so much as into looking to the RB as opposed to the improvement in the OL
Drafting Williams, Beekman being healthy, still having a great center in Kreutz ... it starts upfront. The RB or any skill positions, while they get the praise or "fantasy stats" ... owe alot to the OL. Forte is a RB so I have tempered expectations. The NFL is a different speed and there will be adjustments from the teams he's used to playing against in Tulane. His success will be determined on how he adjusts and how the OL holds up. Even AP in Minny has a all pro tackle to run behind in Hutchinson.
As a Bear fan, I'm pretty happy with the pick ... but with the recent troubles with Benson is it more of a reason just to replace him and move on or is it that you saw Matt Forte in college were huge fans and know his skills? I'll be the 1st honest Bear fan to say its the 1st reason. I didn't know much about Forte until 3 or 4 months before the draft until I googled him. Case in point, Garrett Wolfe had a more heralded college career and I was excited to see him in a Bears uniform but he hasn't done much in the league yet.
I'm in the wait and see point ... and maintains it over a period of years. Remember Salaam and ATrain having good 1st years, actually Rookie of the Year awards. Sustained production as opposed to 1 good year, as a Bear fan I'll be happy if I get that from Forte
