Kobe only won the MVP because the NBA felt they owed him one. Chris Paul is the true MVP, for his team really needs him to win. He is more valuable to his team as a player and leader than Kobe. Dont get me wrong, Kobe is a great player but C.P. is more valuable to his teams fortunes.

I totally agree.  I think it comes down to big market team and exposure against smaller market and little exposure.  If CP would have been on the Lakers.  The MVP would have been his.  Paul shouldnt be penalized for things he cant control.

No disrespect to Paul....but

Do you really think the Lakers are in the playoffs without kobe???  True same can be said for Hornets...don't dispute that...but gasol went down...lakers keep winning...bynum goes down....lakers keep winning......odom....same thing....kobe is incredible and deserving....Paul would have been equally deserving...but not more so......live with it and stop hatin...the guy himself should not be a factor in any of these posts and bottom line is Kobe is the man....best record in same conference as Paul...nuff said!

Really?  Replace Kobe with an average point guard and the Lakers are a lottery team.  Replace Paul with an average point guard and New Orleans still has a shot at the playoffs.  Paul is a great player, but if Kobe had surgery on his finger, the Lakers would probably be done right now.

Like Paul, Kobe is his team's best scorer and passer, but he's also their best and most versatile defender.  Paul is a very good defensive point guard, but he's limited to guarding the other team's point guard.  Kobe gives the Lakers flexibility defensively that Paul can't give.

To me, good pick!  But I'm biased!

I totally agree with you. Kobe has been a "superstar"  for his career so when he finally actually is good, they give him the MVP cuz they feel they owe it to him. Chris Paul was the real MVP because he led one of the crappiest teams in the league to a number 2 seed in the playoffs, without barely any help. Thats what I call a MVP.

Can you really go wrong with either?  I mean come on people, open your damn eyes.  You all are hating for Kobe winning this award but he was the best player on the floor for the team in the west with the best record.  Why is it so hard to understand to the casual fan. You guys are a bunch of hating homers.  Every NBA player and coach believes Kobe is and has been the best player in the league for many years now.  Your opinion matters more than the people who try to guard him or coach against him?  There is no player in the league more valuable to his team than Kobe.  Without Kobe this is a lottery team!  Period!

No way, Kobe needed gasol to help carrier them to the top.  Paul pretty much did it on his own.  It came down to exposure and market.  Kobe is in LA and Paul in NO..... NO would not have even made the playoffs

Right... Paul did it by himself.  I mean David West was an all-star, Peja is a former all-star and Tyson Chandler had his best year as a pro.  Right...Paul was a one man show in New Orleans.  If you believe that, I have some beach front property in Montana to sell you!  Quit saying Gasol is the reason for the Lakers success.  It is stupid to say it.  The Lakers were already 15 games over .500 without him.  Gasol went down and guess what...the Lakers kept winning!  Gasol had as much impact on the Lakers winning as West and Stojavich did for Hornets.

All because of Paul ability to get to the hoop and make easy score for everybody on his team.  That is why he averaged over 12 assist a game.  Kobe plays on a team that had three times the amount of exposure then the Hormets.  You think that the Lakes would have won the West without the trade for gasol.  I hope the Hornets and lakes make it to the WC Finals and Paul shows why he is the best player this year....
