jrthrash,
I've been watching them since UFC 1, so I know that they have faced off before. And Frank kicked Tito's butt. At the time, nobody could beat Frank, which is why, for a little while Frank was the best. In that time frame, I think Frank Shamerock was good enough to make him one of the best all time fighters (even though he has always been super annoying).
HOWEVER, that was then, this is now. Frank has been nothing but talk for years and I think he makes contract negotiations nearly impossible no matter who is fighting for or who he is fighting against. Tito is bad about it, but Frank is worse. Both of these guys have huge heads and would want a rematch to be the biggest thing ever (rightfully so if you took both guys in their prime). It would be a great CBS follow up to an iffy first card.
While I have never liked Ken Shamerock, there was no denying Frank's skills back in the day. But he wasted his talent by "retiring" as champ, and now he is an older guy looking in at a practically new sport. His fights in the last few years have been disgraceful. His loss to a 40 year old Gracie (not Royce) due to illegal punches, and quitting after the 3rd against Cung Li after doing nothing but showboating were rediculious. That last fight looked like it came out of a Rocky movie. Terrible! This MMA, not a movie. But Li was willing to fight that way, and he let Frank get out of several sticky situations just because Frank acted like it was all a joke. If he tried to do that to Tito Ortiz, Ortiz would not slow down at all. Tito's head is on straighter right now than it has been for a long time, while Frank's head is on backwards. I'm also not a huge Tito fan, but he is much more of an active fighter than Frank at this point and I could easily see Frank saying no to the fight and blaming it on contract crap...................................................... Either way, I think Ortiz would win this time.
