100 ABs was enough for many of you and Joe Torre to say that DeWitt has the 3B job over LaRoche, It should be enough to say that Ethier has the 3rd OF job over jones, ability before paycheck. Not to mention that this will be the 3rd year that Ethier has deserved a starting job and hasnt gotten it.
Honestly, I doubt there is going to be many to disagree with you. The problem is that there's no way it gets better before it gets worse. It's just the way handling of veteran's with big contracts works. It's not fair to us, but it's not fair to Andruw Jones either (even though he makes a lot more $$$ than me)
With that said, look on the bright side. A lot more walks and a lot less swings in the dirt are a step in the right direction, wouldn't you agree?
True, but he isn't the first and won't be the last great player who has to pay his dues for years both in the minors and in the majors before he finally makes his stand permanently. He's still only 26, and there's a lot of ball left to play this year. Don't think Coletti doesn't at least have SOME kind of insurance plan for him.
I have a lot of faith for Ethier. He's still a huge reminder how good that Milton Bradley trade was for us, on and off the field.
