Two walks tonight for chipper. I figured it was only a matter of time before mr .400 hitter was going to start getting walked left and right.
Tex gets going should cut that down a bit but still if chipper is up at bat and there is a guy standing on second and first base is open.. I'd walk him if I were the pitcher. lol.
And as my favorite player of all time, I believe chipper is one of very few active ball players that could actually threaten the coveted .400 avg.
Barring that old injury bug, I believe we may see Chip back at the all-star game. I wouldn't mind if he passed it up though.. Three whole days to rest up, but I highly doubt chipper would pass it up if he were voted in. Maybe if he was selected as a reserve, but not if the fans voted for him.

It's cool if they walk Chipper to get to Teixeira, but they have done this about five times now and Tex has not made them pay for it not once. It's time for Tex to get some big hits before and after they walk Chipper to get to him. Because when the other team does that it's really an insult in a way. You are saying that you are the weaker hitter and I can get you out easier.
Make 'em pay Tex!

Well, I have always hated the intentional walk thing. However, i don't blame the other team. I'd do it too if I were managing. When Tex gets hot though.....watch out!! There's going to be no stopping this lineup!!!
As far as the All Star Game, Chipper definitely deserves to be voted the starter at 3B for the NL, but with David Wright being in New York I don't know that he will. For some reason the starting lineups are always littered with NY players. The left side of the infield this season should be Hanley Ramirez and Chipper Jones, but it will probably be Jose Reyes and David Wright. This is the problem with putting this responsibility in the hands of your every day fan.

Yes Chipper definitely deserves to go to the All-Star game but with the idiot fans voting it will be hard for Chip to get in; even though he's by far the best third baseman that plays the game right now and has ever played the game.
It's time for the managers and coaches to vote for the players that deserve to go to the All-Star game and not the idiot NY fans like you said Vol. That's what it seems like, only NY fans voting. If it was up to them they would have their whole team in the All-Star Game.

if chipper doesn't start the allstar game i am never watching the allstar game again. i could understand if wright was having a good year, but he can't hit for crap right now. pitchers are starting to learn that all they have to do is throw wright an outside slider and he is a strikeout waiting to happen. he is batting in the .260's. people want to annoint wright as some HOP thirdbaseman better than average years. lets see him do it for 12-15 years
as far as reyes, no way he is voted in at ss with Hanley Ramirez playing like he is and getting all the attention.
reyes and wright don't deserve to be allstar's this year, plain and simple.

Please don't misconstrue my words cuse. i'm not saying Reyes deserves to be voted in, i'm just saying expect it to happen. Any baseball fan with any sense knows Hanley and Chipper are outplaying Reyes and Wright. Unfortunately they are playing in NY and thus will have a huge advantage when it comes to the fan voting.
Like i said, any baseball fan with any sense.......

Chipper Jones will have to expect this until Tex starts to hit on a regular basis. That .400 plus batting average and just knowing that pitchers are still afraid of him is just too cool. If Chipper could continue to hit like this for the entire season, do you think some people might change their minds about his HOF credentials? I think they would have to. In my openion, another good three or four years and he is in either way. But back to the point, a walk is as good as a hit and that is fine with me.

First and foremost, I have been a Chipper fan since the beginning, my favorite player of all time. That being said, he just cant hit .400. Hes a great hitter but theres just no way. Pessimistic I know, Im sorry. 2nd Chip will prolly skip the game cause the chump up north, David Wright, will be voted the starter almost no matter what, weak.

That was a good one... I like Chipper just as much as the next Braves fan, but come on people like Ichiro Suzuki have a much better chance at the .400 mark then Chipper does. Anyone know how many home runs Eddie Mathews got with the Braves, could Chipper resonably eclipse him??

I agree that Chipper is getting the Bonds treatment, and I've been frustrated that Tex hasn't made them pay for it. Everytime I see them walk Chipper intentionally I always say out loud "make em' pay Tex" and thus far he hasn't. He has to get mad about it and let his pride intervene. Tex is way too good of a ball player for teams to try and get to him purposely. I hope he heats up soon and makes teams pay for walking Chipper. My fear is that by time Tex heats up Chipper may have slowed down. It's hard to keep up at the pace he has been.

Hubster, you're gonna have to stop saying "make 'em pay Tex" as it is clearly a jinx. Try some reverse psychology from a distance.

I just want to remind everyone, it is only May. Lets not get too excited here. Its a blast watching what Chip Chip does on a night to night basis and after a few problems in April with injuries, things are starting to look up again.
As for the Bonds treatment, Chip's deadly but despite being a first ballot Hall of Famer I wouldnt say pitchers are scared to pitch to him and .400 is a STRETCH.
I would love to see it though, are you kidding my, to have someone do it in our lifetime would just amazing but then for it to be our boy Chip, nough said.
Bravochick and can certainly appreciate your overzealous love for the man, and he's good look for a switch hitter, but lets keep things in perspective here:)

vol,
wasn't misconstruing your words. i think there is more of a love affair with wright than reyes. and Hanley Ramirez gets alot of talk on sports radio and espn as being the best player in the NL.
considering wrights numbers pale in comparison to chippers, i think chipper will probably get the nod b/c most of the votes not coming out of new york will be for chipper.

If Chipper continues this season then he will be starting during the all star game. As far as fan voting goes I have noticed in the past few years fans are becoming more knowledgeable about the game and actually make better decisions when voting for this stuff. Now I am not going to say that they get it right every time as a whole but I have noticed more fairness than years past.
