wins and losses for a pitcher is probably the most overrated stat in baseball to determine if a pitcher is good or not.

i say give Harrang 9 runs every game , he goes 20 and 0.

now , I also think its time for some of you to reach out to Dunn, he has been hitting has he not? these guys will turn it on , maybe not Jr. but the rest will and then its on. P__________n out of the lineup, Freel leading off,in his spot, things will change.

GO Reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And about the thread, I think a good 1. maybe we could have 4 Aces. Runs will make every pitcher.

GO Reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regardless of who is dubbed the 'ace', they are both pitching like aces right now.  EV had another solid outing today with the benefit of a crazy number of HR's.  Too bad Harang can't seem to benefit from the same.

GO Reds!

Just a thought, maybe Edinson Volquez and Josh Hamilton are both having Cy Young and MVP type seasons because they see the other one doing so good and won't want that trade to go down as a bad trade. Volquez leads the NL with a 1.06 ERA and leads MLB with 52 SO, and Hamilton leads MLB with 32 RBI. It's good to see these 2 young players succeed. Hamilton is my favorite player not wearing a Reds uniform.

BrianTSL,

You are pretty F*$*ing stupid, I only have this to say, if Harang is not a top starter for a good team that competes then give 8 or 9 starters that are better then him.  There are usually 8 to 9 teams that compete for the playoffs all the way to the last week of the season.  So by backing up what you say give my 9 more better starting pitchers in the NL that are better the Harang.

sharmz: you're right, W-L record is definitely the most overrated stat for evaluating pitchers.  it's sad that cy young voting hinges almost completely on the least indicative measure of how well a pitcher even pitches.

I am a Reds fan so i love what volquez is doing on the mound

Not only is he tossing an almost 1 e.r.a. but also for some reason the team's bats show up when he mounts the rubber

So as of now it is Volquez hands down

some ppl on this board need to chill out with the name calling and insults.

there no need for all that, this place should be a place where we can all ask question, and share are thoughts on a varity of subjects, with out being putdown.

to be honest, if you look at the numbers you can make a case for volquez.i know numbers don't always tell the whole story, im just saying.

play nice ppl

I have to say Harang is the ACE due to longevity.  He's been the most underrated pitcher for the last 4 years.  During that time period, he's in top 5 in innings ptiched, quality starts (even in GABP), strikeouts.  I could be wrong with this one, but I also think he's only walked more than 3 batters in a game ONCE over this period.

Volquez has pitched AWESOME, but only for a little over month.

Harang is 7 out of 8 in the quality start department.  Not his fault he has only ONE win!  BTW, His one non-quality start the team actually admitted he was fighting the flu.  In fact, he saves the bullpen more than Volquez due to his walks.  He's still learning how to go deep in games.

I just convinced myself, if the Reds ever made the playoffs, I want Harang pitching Game 1....PERIOD!

GO REDS!

I agree, uj. As a wise man once said, we can disagree without becoming disagreeable.

Harang is a beast and definately the number 1 but Volquez is smokin and so is cueto. Maybe we could have three good starters this year?

I remember Harang pitched 10 full innings in a game last year and he did not get a decision or a complete game WTH? IMO he is the man in Cincy I just wish he got some run support! Go Reds!

So very very true.  If by some act of God we make the play offs Harang is the right choice.  He's definitely the veteran and I would trust his proven arm.  Volquez is definitely who you want as a #2 though.  That's a solid one two punch right now.

Oh, P.S. FSN is doing an interview with Griff right now.

"You actually traded in a car because you weren't getting hits?"
"Yeah, traded it in"

Maybe he should trade in a couple more cars and a house or something right now.  He hasn't hit a HR in weeks.
