This clip was from a May 2nd areticle by Dennis Dodd- Good stuff on the ND v. RU deal.

Rutgers feelin' it: Two years ago, Rutgers would have jumped at the chance to play Notre Dame at Giants Stadium.

When Notre Dame came calling about starting a series, AD Bob Mulcahy said he wanted to play Rutgers' home games at Rutgers. What a concept. The Scarlet Knights have been in three consecutive bowls for the first time in history. They are adding 14,000 seats to Rutgers Stadium. They don't have to rely on revenue from a Notre Dame gate at Giants Stadium to make their budget. They're also a better program than Notre Dame right now. Way to stick to your guns, Bob.

I'm still in shock that you said the words "great article" and "Dennis Dodd" in the same sentence, without the word "not" in there.

But seriously, I did like his take on it. I don't understand why people not in the know don't get that we don't need to bend over for Notre Dame to get the Jersey recruits. They don't steal nearly as many as they use to.
A game at the Meadowlands benefits Notre Dame, and Notre Dame only.

The thing that people at ND are missing is that 3 years ago if you looked at their top recruits, none of them had Rutgers as a possibility. This year if you look at their recruits there are 3-5 of them that have listed Rutgers. Just like a few of our recruits have ND on their list.

It will still be years if ever for us to be able to compare recruiting classes with ND but they are missing the trend. If we keep going to bowls and they stay mediocre then we will really take a big bite out of their recruits.

I would have loved to see ND/Rutgers but we don't need them. Fresno St is a much better game and we will get great exposure playing them as well.
