Jeff Kent won't be here for too much longer so what do u guys think about Hu as our future second baseman.  Honestly i'm scared that second base is gonna end up like 3rd base with us going through a new player every year what do u guys think

What I think will happen, is that Blake Dewitt will be the future second basemen because of his bat.  Second base is one of fhis natural positions, and one he played a lot at Vero Beach.  The problem with him is that his glove is not so good.  Although it look spretty good with the Big club, he has a minor league fielding pct of .943.

I don't know...jury is still out on Hu....hopefully we have a 15 game lead in the division in the middle of September..so we can give him a serious look and see how he does playing every day... his glove is stupendous..his hitting is what the unknown is... i wouldn't be adverse to exploring free agency to see if there's someone worth signing...they mentioned Orlando Hudson..I don't know who else is available..but Hudson is pretty decent...not great..but solid.

The Dodgers batting order has been enjoying the rare treat of a power-hitting second baseman since Jeff Kent has been wearing blue. Chase Utley is the only other guy I think of right now as a big bat threat. Most 2Bs are .250 hitters who draw a lot of walks, steal a base, and sacrifice to move a guy over while playing stellar defense on the double play. From that lens, Hu and Tony Abreu are both likely to get strong looks.

Blake Dewitt is another possibility, but that depends on how the 3B battle plays out. If Andy LaRoche shows he's ready for the big club, you'd want to keep DeWitt's production in there. But if LaRoche continues to be less than impressive with LA, DeWitt could stay at third.

A final possibility is Delwyn Young, who has played the infield before and has been taking grounders this year to find a way to stay with the team since he's out of minor league options. I think he'll probably end up more of a utility guy though.

You just had to bring up Chase Utley didnt you!!! Of all the guys who the Dodgers drafted and didnt sign, this one hurts the worst. Just think what the line up could be with him in it?

DP you said Orlando Hudson, but he is going to want a huge payday. I know he has gold glove defense, and he can hit, but he is also getting old.

I rather have Hu at 2nd than Delwyn Young. Sorry but DY should have been dealt during the offseason when his value was super high from the USA team. But so is life.

I rather see the Dodgers let Hu show what he has. Give him a full season. But by judging off of 4 weeks of him playing once a week, pitch hitting here and there....not fair.

remember, this we all want a Youth Movement. Only way for that to happen is to throw them out there and see what they can do over a 3-4 month period of time.

And if Hu doesnt make it, there are plenty of guys down on the farm who can step into it.

I think that HU, Young and Dewitt will be the 3 options at 2b next year.  I think we have to have some power at one of these positions.  Since there is no power at the 2b spot in the league I think landing a 3b with power would help.  Hard to tell if Laroche can be that guy but losing Kent is kinda a big hit as far as infield power.  I would like to think that Kemp, jones and Ethier will supply the power in the outfield but with the way things are going with Jones it is hard to say.  1 super slugger in the lineup somewhere would be great but I'm not willing to let Loney, Furcal (if we resign him),  Kemp or Martin go but everybody else is free game to aquire some more pop in the lineup.

dewitt isn't the answer for third, and I don't think he is the answer at 2nd, his lack of power or speed make him nothing more then a utility infielder who can fill in now and again, if I am correct he still has 0 HRs.  And this is a power deprived team.  I don't mind having Hu as the future 2B, even as early as next year.  But if Jones doesn't return to form, AND LaRoche doesn't hit for the power that is expected of him, we will probably have to trade away one of Loney Kemp, Either to open a spot for a big bat.  'm tired of an average at best offense, we need a guy on the team that can knock out 40 HRs or at least two consistent 30 HR hitters.
