I was just doing some research and noticed that over the last 7 days we have 5 players hitting over .300! Here it is:

Celix Crabbe: .400 (2-5)

Adrian Gonzalez: .385 (10-26) 4 HOME RUNS!!!! + .885 slugging!

Kevin Kouzmanoff: .375 (9-24) .542 slugging!

Tadihito Iguchi: .320 (8-25)

Brian Giles: .300 (6-20)

I think Celix Crabbe should now be our go to guy for pinch hitting situations. Tony Clark is a big 0-4 over the past week. PATHETIC!

On a side note, Scott Hairston is slugging a .684 over the past week with 2 home runs and 2 doubles.

octaveoff

Good observation.

I'm not the numbers cruncher type, but I too had noticed a marked improvement in the hit and run production the last few games. Adrian Gonzalez, Brian Giles and Kevin Kouzmanoff are the meat of the Pads lineup. If their production gets up to where it should be? Who knows.

I'd like to see Scott Hariston play center full time. I like his defense way better than anyone else they have playing there and his bat is a proven plus.

So far it hasn't changed the won loss that much yet. Perhaps it will soon.

Hopefully it's not too late to get this turned around. Still a lot of games to be played. Padres still have good starting pitching and if the bullpen can get their act together they might still have a shot at the div if not a WC berth?

Good morning Oct, Boltnut.  I see you were out to mini-camp this weekend Bolt? Good pic. Crabb has to find his way into a position. His bat is better then 60% of the players right now. And as for me, lets start calling it a rebilding year because i cant see traded Kalil Green and Wolff a solution to the problem this year. If we can make some good pick-ups here and there till the season ends, im all for it. Ive been through the worser years then this, and who am im to be upset.

And Scott Hariston deserve the nod just for the fact the Edmonds cant get to the ball anymore, and there going to release him any way this week. Sad situation, but these past years have made me happy to see the Pads as contenders..  Any way, Go Pads!!!

SOUTH BAY REP

Good mornin back atcha...

Mini Camp was fun. Antoine Cason has a great sense of humor (we defensive players pulled some stuff on him) and Jacob Hester is the real deal...Lotsa power and great moves

I'm not ready to wave the white flag on the Padres season yet. Diamondbacks are all of a sudden looking very normal 5-5 last 10 games. Dodgers are hot 9-1 last ten games... Padres get hot for a while and pick up say a game a week against the leaders...Be back in the thick of it by the All-Star break.

Me two Boltnut. We still have a shot, but i just nervous about the swing. Before, we would just strand players, now we cant hit as well as before. We will see, and i will be there for them. And it is only the second week out of the first month, so thats a good reason to stay positive.... Go Pads.....

Damn! Top of the 9th behind 5 - 3 two men on with one out...

Adrian Gonzalez AND Kevin Kouzmanoff strike out...

Is it just me, or does it look like these guys are swinging for the fences rather than trying to make contact and get just a solid hit?

I had read somewhere that Tony Gwynn was working with Adrian Gonzales in the off season. I had been hoping he would be more selective, and have a little better bat control.

Boltnut....

I couldn't agree more. But i was happy to see them at least trying to get a ralley going. What is concerning me at this point is that if we dont start winning, there going to trade Green, and that would officially ruin my Padre season. I can get over a losing season, we been through this from time to time. But to lose the best short stop in baseball, as far as im concern it will be a bigger blow then a quick big bat. What about Kenny Loften? I heard hes still out there. Keep the faith...Go Pads....

Bolt nut, thanks for the update on the camp. Its good to hear that Cason and Hester are excited to be Chargers. I'm hoping they could be the changes we need to make to earn a spot in the big dance.

I'm not ready to wave the white flag either although I did hear on first take that we are predicted to lose over 100 games this season. I hope we do the necessary changes in the next couple of weeks to get some streaks going. I hear that Germano has been pulled out of the rotation and people like Ledezma or Rusch a chance until Prior is good to go. Also I'm waiting anxiously for the arrival of Headley. I'd like to see us give Edmonds a rehab spot in Portland and bring Chase down. Also lets get Tony Clark on the block already!

I agree completely. Loosing Greene would certainly put a damper on my season personally.

I heard Adam Dunn is looking for new home too.

Don't even mention them trading Kahlil Greene.

I'd go ballistic.
