and relax. Before this weekend's series, there were several people on these threads and around the country who were up in arms about the Yankees play against Detroit. True, the series was bad. But, if the series against Seattle showed anything, it showed it's a long season. The Yankees had a great series against Seattle, and they beat their two best pitchers. The top of the order went nuts the past few games, and this team did a great job of getting runners home.

Even the pitchers did a great job this weekend. Wang is on fire early this season, and Moose has looked strong in his past three starts. Even Farnsworth pitched well.

Let's just remember this weekend as fans the next time the Yankees go into a funk. It's a long season people, so let's just sit back and enjoy the baseball.

Oh yea, and how about the Melkman. A possible All-Star year?

There is no question the Yankees will be in the race until the very end. BUT there is plenty of room for worry. Right now the Yanks don;t have a 5th starter and a very questionable 4th starter at the moment. Injuries are plaguing this team right now.

They need to address the pitching issues and you're right about Moose and Farnsworth. If Moose can hold down the 3rd spot in the rotation that will help the team a long way. If Kyle can;t become a reliable option out of the pen it could give the Yanks room to move Joba into the starting rotation suring up at least 1 other spot in the rotation. If Rasner works out the staff can surviv and hopefully Philly is back on track when he return from the DL.

If Kyle CAN not cant, my mistake. Bruney looked like he might be able to assume the 8th inning role if Joba were to be move but now that job is up for grabs if they decide to move Joba into the rotation.

I don't know if you can call how the Yanks played in Detroit "Baseball" but that is for another day.  I agree with you that it is a long season but  there are concerns for the yanks... The main one is the health of their players... way too many gettign injured and/or being put on the DL.  I know that Posada is gettting older, so are Jeter and A-Rod... I would think that some of the blame should be on the coaches for this.  I don't think that the training staff is "Stressing" the importance of streching... I guess early in the year these things are going to happen...

The shame of it is that the Yankees injuries are a result of a way too long regular season. Playing night games in April in the Northeast is dangerous. No matter how much you stretch, sitting on the bench in the freezing cold during a long Yankee half inning will tighten you up. The baseball season needs to start in late april, or only play afternoon games (anywhere) and night games (in warm weather cities and domes.)

I understand the argument for a need for a fifth starter, but the Yankees will only need somebody for the 5th inning a couple of games this month. I think moving Kennedy down to the minors was smart. The kid only had one quality start, and I think he needs to get some confidence back in Triple A.

Other than that, injuries are going to happen. A-Rod will come off the DL soon, and Jose Molina has proven to be a capable starter during this stretch without Posada. I think May will be a big month, but not having a proven fifth starter won't hurt. Also, Cano and Giambi need to hit, and I think we're seeing Giambi come around. Ibanez had to make a great catch just to take away a double.

I agree with you completely, Devils. The Yankees will be in it until the end.  I really cannot think of four teams in the AL that are clearly better than the Yankees this year.  I am not sold on the Indians or Tigers or White Sox, and I don't think the A's, Orioles, and Devil Rays will keep up their hot play.  The only two teams that look to be ahead of us right now are the Red Sox and the Angels and that could change as the season progresses, but this talk of the Yankees missing the playoffs is not right, particularly since the AL looks weaker this year than in the past.

Couldn't of said it better myself DevilsMan, and were 3-0 since Bobby Murcer came back. Just a little fun fact. I think Cano finally  has it going, but Giambi isn't. He'll probably start hitting home runs again soon though, so im happy with this team. No one should panic, yet lots of people are.
