What is the story wiht Homer right now? Fogg is terrbie, Bronson just got shelled again, Cueto has given up 5 earned in 3 of his last 4 starts. I know Cueto probably wont go anywhere nor should he but Homer has to be getting the nod sometime soon. Does any Reds fans know what the deal is with him. Any Jay Bruce news out there either???

The Reds front office doesn't want to "rush" either of them which is total BS. Homer has absolutely dominated down there, and Jay Bruce has too minus the past game or 2 that he's struggled. I would say it's OK to keep them down there if we're winning and not to mess up team chemistry, but oh wait, we're losing nearly every game and have NO team chemistry or leadership to speak of. The problem with Homer is who goes? Bronson isn't going anywhere he makes too much money. Cueto isn't either, at least right now. Fogg is in the bullpen so replacing him with Bailey just wouldn't make sense. What I could see happening is Fogg getting cut, then Matt Belisle taking his spot, then Homer Bailey taking Belisle's spot in the rotation. This is all just speculation though.

it sounds good to me, but lets face it, Belisle, Fogg, just need to be CUT, money you say. well ,i say Arroyo has another bad outing , he would be gone also.i cut him on my fantisy team and he was a 2 start pitcher that week.(I WON) that week. dont get me wrong i like Arroyo, but he could be part of the problem. and no hits has a little to do with it. and why they are just DFA these guys , why not just DFA ,Coffee, Weathers, even Merker.and please dont forget Dustys boy_________.

GO Reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha, cutting bronson on your fantasy team isn't quite the same as cutting someone a check then watching them light your $15 million on fire.  i had an idea though.  if we have to pay bronson's contract anyway, why not get something constructive out of it?  we give him to the Cubs for free (a weak A-ball prospect maybe), and agree to pay like 80 or 90% of his contract.  that way, he can bring our division rival a few games down in the standings, which would at least be something worthwhile for the money...

In my opinion, Jocketty should make several moves.

1. Release Josh Fogg and Bring up Homer Bailey. You eat a $400,000 contract which really is a drop in the bucket as far as salaries are concerned.

2. Send Belisle back to Louisville and bring up Jay Bruce.

3. Trade Cory Patterson to anyone who will have him. He is carrying a $3,000,000 contract. This one would be hard to eat. It may have to be done, but he needs to go, and probably doesn't have options.

4. Something has to be done with Scott Hatteburg. He is taking up valuable pine space. He only has 37 ABs in 30 games this year.

5. Kent Mercker has to be let go. He carries a $600,000 contract. We have Bill Bray and Jeremy Affeldt in the bullpen already. I think he would be a candidate to shop, as a lot of teams need that one out lefty, and Mercker can come in a walk that lefty with the best of them.

6. Ken Griffey is gone. IMO he hits #600 in Cincinnati and GM phones in the American League will start ringing off the hook.

These are feasible moves. Walt Jocketty will have to pull the trigger soon, or Bob Castellini is looking to have a lot of fans dressed up as empty seats at Great American!

They need to put Arroyo in the bullpen, release, Fogg and bring up Homer Bailey. You can't baby him forever. He is older than Cueto and Edinson so why not rush as they are saying?

actually Josh Fogg is making $1.5 million.  still, that's not an enormous investment, so it's conceivable that the Reds would cut him.  actually, i think we've eaten so many contracts lately that we fans are starting to think that's just the normal procedure!  it's really not common, and owners don't like to do it (obviously), so we can't always resort to it whenever players are in a cold spell or not working out.  i'm amazed (and happy) that castellini has been as willing to do it as he has.

Homer Bailey is younger than both cueto and volquez.  volquez is almost 3 years older, cueto only a month, but still older (and much more ready for the show, IMO)

Ok i was wrong he is younger than both of them but only younger than Cueto by 3 months. The MLB2k8 game had him as 24 years old but i see he's only 22 as he just turned it two days ago. Just bring him up no matter what his age is he is dominating.

I lucked out and snagged Max Scherzer and I've had Homer stashed on my fantasy roster team from the git-go;  I also dropped Arroyo.  With the 'Reds pitching woes If Homer ain't ready to make his mark this year will he ever.....?

I asked the question with a fantasy interest. I had Yovanni Gallardo and he is now done for the year and I am in an NL only league so the FA pitching market is bare. My staff was pretty dominating but this injury has killed me having to replace him with Dave Bush at the moment. I hope he and Jay are up soon.

Cut Fogg, Bring up Bailey and either send Arroyo to the pen or DL. We cannot keep sending Arroyo out there to get shelled ala Zito.

we're only wasting our time by talking about the team's pitching.  It's improved tremendously, but what good is it if you can't score any runs and our manager insists on playing Corey Patterson, hit's Griffey in the top of the order when he can't hit himself out of a wet paper bag, and there's no leadership on the team?  I'm starting to think Griffey's trying to catch up with Dunn on the strikeout category.  Has anyone realized that Phillips leads the team in K's?  He has 25, Dunn has 24, and Griffey with 20.  That's pathetic.
