What a series that was against the boocrew.  Pithching was decent, but it was the bats that carried us, as I hope they will for the season.  Not to mention the wonderful implosion of Eric "can't throw a strike" Gagne. How's that feel Citron? Hey guy, what was that you said about Berkman not being able to repeat his career year numbers?  Shit, he might have his best year ever. Best series yet, and hopefully a jump start to DOMINATION.

Who said that Berkman couldn't repeat his career year numbers?

Who decides that a player has already had their career year when they're still active, and nowhere near retirement? Berkman has stated he doesn't plan to play as long as Biggio and Bagwell did, but even then he's in his PRIME right now.

If Berkman has his best season yet this year, I won't be surprised. I'll be surprised if so do Carlos Lee and Miguel Tejada, of course. We can only DREAM of that!

But anyway... yeah, that was a great series. Pitching may not have carried us, but they certainly kept us in it.

gotta love berkman.. shows up every yr ...fat and out of shape..apparently doing no physical activity all offseason.. has the physique of a slow pitch softball player..and still rakes a 35-115 season.. unbelievable talent and competitor..love that guy

remember berkman had that bad leg injury and the botched surgery.  he likely was bothered by it even through last season too.  he is running much better this season than ever since the surgery.  having had a knee surgery myself, i know the difference that time can make in the healing process...his next two stolen bases will give him his highest  season sb total since that knee injury--should happen well before the mid-point of the season.

p.s. 5 of 6 at home is mighty fine, let's go get a few on the road trip...

HEY! Booger, Berkman isn't fat. He's just big boned!

Seriously, the guy is a brickhouse. It's just his body type. And boy does it lead to the power.

Did anybody hear the game on FSN tonight? Jim Deshaies was saying that he hoped Tejada would get a good lead off first base so he could score from 1st when Lance hits a double (it was when the 'Stros were up "only" 4-0 midway through the game)... then Lance hit the homer a couple pitches later and Jim admitted he had undersold him. Heh.

The hit parade goes on!
