Here's Scott Wright's scouting report

Strengths:
Excellent size and great bulk with a solid frame...Has long arms and big hands...Is strong and physical...Very aggressive with great ball skills and body control...Can make the spectacular catch...Decent athleticism...Knows how to use his size to his advantage...A fantastic leaper...Can be a terror in the redzone...Pretty productive.

Weaknesses:
Not very explosive and lacks a burst...Will struggle to separate..Is not real elusive and won't do much after the catch...Does not have reliable hands...Is not a great route runner...Not nearly as good of a blocker as he should be...Only two years of DI experience...He won't stretch the field vertically...Has some character concerns.

Notes:
Highly-touted JUCO transfer from San Francisco City College..His nephew is former Colorado tailback Bobby Purify...Was arrested in '06 on two counts of assault and one count of resisting arrest and then just five weeks later he was arrested again for suspicion of drunken driving...Ironically he was a criminal justice major...He has some physical tools to work with but will need to keep his nose clean off the field.

Other than the fact he has nice size6'31/8" 224lbs,  he can catch but will he comsistantly?,  doesn't block, doesn't run good routes,  doesn't create separation, can't stretch the field, do much after the catch then top it off with his alleged character issues Why is it we need him? Ahhh No Thanks.

see this is what also comes into play i watch purify every game he played and he did pretty good BUT! they also had Callahan as a coach he would of been a good recruiter but he didnt know how to coach the recruits really. thats why they struggled because they didnt have a coach help them improve. that was the same with Terrance Nunn he was one of the best WR in the NCAA i think it was either his sophmore or Junior year and after that he sucked because he had no coaching.

Sportz45 He may have some of the tools and frame to succeed at this level but he does seem to lack speed. I would think a team that was truly desperate could take a shot on a guy like this as a project with all the baggage that comes with it. The Bears IMO aren't that desperate. Besides, I'm all for giving a kid a second chance because many of us have made stupid mistakes when we were younger but based only on the report because I haven't seen the kid play, his upside reward is probably not worth the risk involved.

I actually like this kid but we already have Marcus Monk.  There's no reason for two of them.

But what an awesome last name.  If he could latch on to a team and do well that would be a great jersey!

I follow the Huskers and have seen Purify play. He does make some great catches, but he also drops balls. He dropped a couple during the Wake Forest game and also the USC game. He has alot of baggage and he can' t seem to stay out of trouble...Maybe that's why he didn't get drafted or why the signing with Dallas fell through. I think the Bears will be ok with who they have right now.
