ok, first of all, there are an exorbitant number of players who dive in the game. the only difference between most of them and the players like crosby is when an official sees a superstar take a dive they assume that they have enough skill to stay on their feet so someone must have caused him to fall. now i'm not defending the art of diving but it's part of the game just like human error on the part of the officials is part of the game.

so, for the Flyers fans that have to rip on crosby, i can't stand him anyway so i hate defending him, but flyers do it too. scotty upshall may not dive, but he definitely overexaggerates plays in an attempt to draw a penalty just as an example.

for the pens fans, to even try and say that crosby doesn't dive is just complete malarky. he takes advantage of his stardom on almost every chance he gets. it's just like in basketball how a ref will call fouls in favor of the Stars of the game. it's just one of the advantages of being an all star in your sport.

by the way, i did have more respect for malkin before that Rangers series and i saw him come up behind a ranger (girardi i think) and just completely take him up high while he slew footed him from behind no where near the play and got away with it. the same with ovechkin when he saw richards comin across ice near the flyers own blue line and he either was just trying to avoid the check and inadvertantly tripped richards or he deliberately pulled a cheap move by sliding right before he got to richards and took out his legs.

wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to worry about players trying to pull dirty shots?
