They also haven't had to face a team with more than 2 scorers either.
Montreal had 4 players score more than 20 goals in the regular season, and 3 more finished with 16. Pittsburgh had 5 players score more than 20 goals this year, and nobody else scored more than 12.
"The Canadiens averaged 35.4 shots a game. I don't think Pittsburgh's gonna do much more."
I agree with this too, but the shots will be of better quality
Of course they will. We all know that a Sidney Crosby shot is automatically of better quality than an Alexei Kovalev shot. What was I thinking?
Can they win the series without taking runs at our Stars or cheapshots? I doubt it. I don't see that happening. So when it is all said and done, we will see...May the best team win!
Funny you should say cheap shots. Does the name Evgeni Malkin ring a bell?
I will give you Washington, but the Caps still had only one superstar you HAD to keep an eye on at all times. The Pens have three and possibly more.
Crosby, Malkin, and who? Hossa? He had 66 points in the regular season. If that's how you define superstar, then we have 3 as well.
We have a much better offense and power-play, we are equal on the PK and in goaltending, as well as defense. The Flyers' playoff PP was 24%. The Pens was 23.4%. How is that much better?
Injuries. Where was crosby hossa and roberts for half the season?
Unlike price, fleury has blossumed in the playoffs and our offense hasn't let us down.
Simon Gagne missed most of the year. We got Vinny Prospal the same time you got Hossa. Mike Richards missed a tenth of the season.
Biron has blossomed as well, and last time I checked, our offense didn't let us down either.
Hey,if you finish 2nd in the conference you get the right to play a lower seeded team!! I know that may come as a surprise to some of you, but that's how the playoffs work. And then, imagine this, they reseed after the first round! Yes, the Pens played teams that weren't as good as the ones Philly faced, but guess what? Pens went 8-1 against them. Kinda like what they should have done, don't you think?
Thank you, NFB. That's exactly what the Penguins should have done. They were the better team. I don't understand why Pens fans are acting like they played better teams than we did. You EARNED the right to play worse teams, you scmucks!! It's just not enough though, is it?
natedoggg - you're still sniffing around the pens boards? I figured you'd have been neutered by now!Yup. It's fun to see what drivel you guys are spewing. I'm not quite sure what scrotum surgery has to do with anything?
Let's not forget that the whole diving allegations began in Philadelphia by former coach Ken Hitchcock. Of course what memory challenged Flyers fans like Natedogg always conveniently forget is that the diving allegations began after a game in which Crosby was cross checked in the mouth by Derian Hatcher. That usually draws a penaltty, particularly when the cross check draws blood, requires stitches and loosens three teeth. I guess he "dove" after that crosscheck. What ignorant jacktards.I don't think anybody said he dove after that hit. He definitely laid there like a little girl though, wouldn't you agree? I think the diving allegations began after the noted dive artist Peter Forsberg saw Crosby draw a penalty against him by diving. He then showed everyone on TV that he knew it was a dive.
Did the Flyers lose big goal scores or did they suck with everyone healthy?I'll be honest, I have no idea what that means.
amen lcjs, it's doub;e standard, he can whine and complain but others can'tI have no problem with people complaining about bad calls or non-calls. I don't think I've ever responded as negatively as you guys do to another fans legitimate or imagined beef. You guys just don't realize that by responding to these complaints and whines with examples of your own, you also are whining.
This was more fun than I expected

Come on nate, you played the Capitals and Montreal. Was either team really much tougher than Ottawa or the Rangers? You've been on the Penguins boards whining all year. I don't have a problem with that, I enjoy watching you wrap your leash around a stake in the yard trying to figure out where you went wrong.
As far as cheap shots, Gary Roberts, Georges Laraque and Jaarko Ruutu willtake care of anything the Flyers can dish out so it's not really a factor. Biron has played well in the postseason, but so has Marc-Andre Fleury.
I'm not going to dimminish the value or the competitiveness of this series by looking at the past two. Most of us thought it was going to come down to a Pittsburgh/Philly Eastern Finals. It's going to be a tough series and the level of play for both teams has jumped tremendously in the second season.
As far as bad calls or non calls, who cares? it has happened in every playoff game this year. But if you come on this board whining about Crosby diving or jawing at the refs like you have in the past, then you're no better than anyone else. The refs don't decide the outcome of games, the players do. Good luck in the series.
GO PENS!

Well yeah I would say Montreal was better than the Rangers and the Caps were definitely better than an Ottawa team that showed over the last 2 weeks of the season that they had just simply given up. Again look at the records of the Caps, the Canadiens and Ottawa the last 10 games. You played an Ottawa team that gave up after Daniel Alfredsson went down. He had 89 points this year and in only 70 games. Since you guys believe that Hossa is a "SUPERSTAR" because he had 66 points in 70 games then Ottawa must have been missing the equivalent of Wayne Gretzky. Again that is my opinion but that's what it comes down to using Pens fan logic. Let's not try to compare Ottawa without Alfredsson to the Caps with Ovechkin, you are just making yourself sound foolish.

We're not talking about the last 10 games of the season, we're talking about the postseason. Washington barely made it in the playoffs, but then again so did the Flyers. I never said Hossa was a superstar, but he is a Damn Good player. Pull a statement out of my posts where i said so. prove it. Oh, and Alfreddson came back during the playoffs. The Rangers have Jagr, Straka, Gomez, Lundqvist. The Senators- Spezza Heatley Alfreddson. If you're going to post facts make sure that's what they are.

Wow...about 80 hours to puck drop for game one and this is already getting nasty! Although I wouldnt expect anything less from a Penguins Vs Flyers series...nasty on the board and going to be nasty on the ice. I have read alot of talk about this happened in the regular season, and you guy's had an easier run...guess what none of that matters now, it will come down to who survives this series.
Round 1 - Penguins played a Senators team with no confidence (although Alferdsson did come back) rolled them over in 4 not a big surprise.
Round 2 - Penguins Vs Rangers I personally was scared for this series...I was betting it would go 7, but the Penguins proved me wrong and came out in 5 hard fought games
Round 1 - Flyers Vs Capitals, what can I say about this series...it was great hockey, and I really didnt think the Caps where going to give the Flyers that much of a run...
Round 2 - Flyers Vs Canadiens, this one was a shocker...I was thinking it would go 6 or 7 with the Habs coming out on top...but the play of Biron stole the series...Carey Price was questionable at best and Philly wanted it more
But here is the thing...those previous series as well as the regular season dont mean $hit! It all comes down to who can win 4 of the next 7...this is going to be a hell of a ride...and if people can stop bantering back and fourth and throwing out stats that dont mean anything...they are going to see some GREAT hockey!
Go Penguins!
