More solid pitching from Aaron Cook.  Maybe next time he starts he will be looking to continue a streak rather than snapping one.

Cook is looking great. He has been this since the season started and I would say the only real shining star for the Rockies so far. Here's hoping the rest of the team will soon join him on a consistant basis.

The bats have finally awakened, and, hopefully, warmer weather will help the pitching staff adjust.  Cook has been fantastic, he's truly a pitcher.  All you have to do is throw strikes, stay ahead of the hitters and keep the ball down.  Hopefully, the young colts can learn something from Cook.  Let's build upon this win and start a winning streak this week.

Go Rockies!!

For sure....Cook is having an amazing season and he's been the only consistent player in what is a young, and sometimes troubling, pitching staff.  It's great to have his veteran leadership on that rotation, and he will do a lot towards bringing the Rockies around.  But, we have to remember that it won't matter how good Cook is if the bullpen doesn't come around....I believe it's seven blown saves so far this season!  I'm sorry but I think that twelve to fifteen is too many for an entire season (even though that may be a little unrealistic)!  The Rockies had the worst record in the league heading into yesterday, now the Padres have that title I believe, and it's mainly because of the bullpen.  Imagine if those seven blown saves were seven wins.  The Rockies aren't doing as poorly as some lead you to believe, even though they could be doing 10x better....

Somebody, either Clint Hurdle or Bob Apodaca, needs to help the pitchers understand how Aaron Cook is being effective.

It's probably more simple than they think:

Work fast and throw strikes !!!

If you are a major league pitcher, you have good enough stuff to get guys out.  The defense that you have behind you was the best fielding team in MLB history last year.  Limit the walks, fill up the strike zone, put the defense to work, and stop pitching scared.  When you pitch defensively, you tend to work from behind, work into jams, and give up big innings.  When you force the opposition to put the ball into play, your defense tends to help more than bad pitches hurt.

(Cloning Cook might be the best idea I have heard so far !!!)

GumbyRox hit the nail on the head. These young pitchers need to be confident in the team behind them.
