Alright I just got done watching that E:60 and I am wondering if this gives Palmeiro's story that he did not take steroids and possibly recieved a tainted b12 shot?

I didn't see what you are talking about, but the catch is that Palmeiro had already failed the test and knew he failed the test when he went before congress and wagged his finger in denial about ever taking steroids. If it was just a tainted shot, he would have almost certainly acted differently throughout that time. He would have been outraged and would have come clean if he, in fact, did not take steroids himself and got a tainted B12 injection from Tejada. He basically folded and disappeared into thin air and I take that as acceptance, not denial. He acted like someone who had just been caught and didn't want to take the heat for it.

Yeah, I threw something like this on the main message board after hearing some stuff about Tejada's steroids.  I think I only thought along these lines because I wanted Palmeiro to be innocent.  That was a "say it ain't so, Joe" moment for me.  I think he did them.

I wouldn't crucify Palmeiro for the steroids had he owned up to it.  But he lied, perjured in fact, and that made me lose all faith in him and at the time a lot of faith in the game.  It also didn't help that the scandal took a first-place Orioles team and flushed it into the cellar.

I did not see the program you are describing WkingsPF.  Can you give us more information on where to find it and who produced it?

The problem for most of us as O's fans is that we have multiple examples of Hall of Fame players who did it right and legit, including Cal, Frank, Brooks, and Eddie juxtaposed to Raffy.

I remember the conversations that Frank Robinson had about Raffy when Camden was being built.  He mentioned that the right field porch and flag court was built for that left handed power, specifically with Palmeiro in mind.

I also remember the look on Raffy's face as he sat at that long table with the microphones denying any use.  Hearing McGwire say, "I just want to talk about the future.  I did not come here to talk about the past."  I remember thinking that Sammy Sosa looked like a scared little boy.  The whole time Conseco was at the other end of the table looking smug.  Only Curt Schilling comes off looking legit.  He was the angry one at the table and asserted over and over that he would submit to the Olympic standards.

I remember once thinking how awful it would be to be Raffy and forever linked as the spokesman for Viagra.  Guess that will be forgotten now.

Sesshomaru:

I think you're incorrect in your information. Palmeiro's failed test, I believe, was taken in May 2005. The Congressional Hearing was in March, I think St. Patrick's Day 2005. If he lied in front of Congress, there's no doubt he would have been prosecuted for perjury by now. But since the failed test wasn't taken until later, there still is no evidence he had used steroids before that hearing. So the OPs might have been correct, in that Palmeiro really was telling the truth about a tainted B-12 shot from Tejada.

Yeah it was early May. Six weeks after the Congressional Testimony.

So it is still entirely possible that Palmeiro was clean his entire career and then Tejada's tainted B-12 caused him to fail a steroid test.

For some reason, I remember hearing that he failed the test three months before it had come out and that it was suppressed long enough for him to get 3,000 hits. Still, if he was innocent, he sure didn't stand up for himself much. He just disappeared and again, that does not seem like someone who was wrongfully accused. Does anyone else remember hearing that at the time? Maybe I am just recalling wrong.

If I remember correctly, got his 3,000th hit in June or July, but the test was in May. So he, along with some O's personnel, knew prior to the 3,000th hit that he had tested positive for steroids. That might be what you're thinking of.
