I love Giants baseball but I live in Utah so dont get much chance to hear or watch any of the young kids except when Fresno comes to town or via internet. I noticed some of the players in San Jose are hitting pretty well what do you know about Pablo Sandoval (catcher) he's the one that looks decent down the road for his position and Andy D'Alessio (1B) I know they are grooming Villalona for first and any plans for a 3rd baseman for the future dont really see one that looks excited unless they convert one of our seems to be many 2nd baseman to 3rd, Or do what they are good at tradeing pitchers for major league ready position players. I know we're not going to contend for any kind of playoff spot soon unless we get a couple of sluggers. I know it seems too early for next years thoughts.

2009 Lineup

 Lewis LF, Rowand CF, Winn/Shierholtz RF,(Help)/Frandsen/Castillo3B, Frandsen/Bocock/Burriss SS, Frandsen/Velez 2B, (Help)/ Bowker 1B, Molina C

I like talking Giants baseball Now and Prospects any input and what you think about the future of this team.

Frandsen/Castillo won't work at 3B.  Frandsen's too small to play 3B and he doesn't hit for enough power.  The only way I want Castillo on the team next year is if he's coming off the bench to pinch hit.  As far as I'm concerned, he's just plugging a hole for this year and he's not costing the Giants much money.

I think the Giants need to use this whole year to see what they have with Velez, Burriss, and Bowker.  We can't tell how good they might be from one month of play.  Hopefully, they will improve and learn (both offensively and defensively) as the season goes on and the team can make decisions about them in the offseason.

But 3B is definitely a priority for next year.

As far as i can tell the Giants do not have anybody coming through who is our future at the hot corner.  Jose Castillo is a good stop gap player but we need to find a long term solution as Angel Villalona is being groomed for 1B now so we need to have a solution.  Possibly at the deadline by moving some of our veterans as Randy Winn, Ray Durham, Dave Roberts, Omar Vizquel, Rich Aurilia, and Bengie Molina.  I know people don't wanna hear Bengie on the trade block but we have Pablo Sandoval in the minors who is amazing and he is 21 and Steve Holm has played well but we need to get a major league ready 3B to start building this young team.
