howlongsit been. I try not to respond to ridiculous posts which is why I didnt respond to yours but here goes. Ladies and gentlemen, the definition of irony.
How can you say florida looked schizo from week to week?
Re-read my original post. That's how. The Gators struggled to beat the Gamecocks, narrowly escaping with a victory over a South Carolina team whose only victories that season came over the following juggernauts: Middle Tennessee, Wofford, Florida Atlantic, and that year's SEC cellar-dwellers, Kentucky, Vandy, and Mississippi State (teams that finished a combined 15-21 that year). Their most notable win was over an 8-5 Clemson team that lost its bowl game.
Then they pasted their next opponent 62-0. Following that, they again had great difficulty with a Florida State team that went 6-6 in its regular season, before going on to a convincing victory in the National Championship game (with a solid win over Arkansas in between).
That's how.
Then you bring up last years Michigan team as "elite"? WHAT?? ELITE? If thats your definition of "elite" then maybe WVU is elite. I dont hear any Michigan fans bragging about that team. We are talking about elite teams not elite programs. BTW WVU is neither!Hey, how'd they do in their bowl game against Florida? Can you refresh my memory?
Then you bring up USC last year. First off, they didnt play for the NC now did they? Mainly because that loss! Losses like that take you out as an elite team for atleast that year. Whens the last time a national champ lost to really weak team like pitt or stanford. I never happens! So by elite, you merely mean the team that won the National Championship? Sounds like a definition not a whole lot of people would agree with. There's only one elite program each year?
As for your second post, you say that you are not arguing that WVU would win the sec or that OU was the best team last year. I NEVER SAID YOU WERE!! This is the first time ive responded to you atleast on this thread so what in the *ell does that have to do with anything? It's called a qualifier/disclaimer.
"Arrived means you have been to the top. Yes, Michigan and Alabama have lost ALOT of luster in recent years but they can atleast say that they were both on top many times and will be again. So Minnesota, Army, and Yale have arrived, while Louisville and South Florida have not. Is that correct?
