I just thought of something novel. I have studied and looked at the teams and games, with very few exceptions over the years, the champions of the 6 BSC conferences would be champion regardless of which conference they were in.

Like last year, USC, LSU, OSU, WVU, OU, and VT would have been the champ no matter which conference they were playing in.

To go along with that, the bottom dwellers would have been bottom feeders in any conference.

Saying that OSU would be 4-4 in another league, or that WVU would get snowed under in the B11 is so much nonsanse, these are all great teams, and would be no matter who they play. As a matter of fact, I would contend that a lot of these teams would do better in a strange league, as those teams are not familiar with their style of play.

I might agree, except some of those conference champions from last year (and in years past) lost to the champions from the other conferences.  But, I agree, listening to people say how WV, etc. would be a fourth place team in the ... conference is lame.  In general there is decent parity among the top teams from the BCS conferences.

BUT, that conference champ would not be there, remember, we moved all the champs to different leagues. The champions themselves might struggle with the other champs, but my theory is that ANY conference champ (most of the time) would win ANY conference.

Well, now that you put it that way, I agree with you.

You think VT would've won the SEC?

I dont care what you say. WV would not win the SEC, Big Ten, Pac 10, or the Big 12.  They might have won the ACC.  Good try though.

You are making youself look stupid, WVU pounded the B12 champ in their bowl, by the way that B12 champ was viewed by most people as the best team in the nation at the time.

I guess you are a typical B11 fan, can not have a discussion about something, just try to belittle someone else.

Quite possibly, I know that the ACC is the weakest of the big leagues right now, but as the year moved on, VT was getting better. Aside from the thrashing that LSU gave them, they had a pretty good year.

I also qualified my statement with "most of the time" there are NO guarantees in college football.

No, no, no. despite the emergence of South Florida lol, the Big East is still, by far, the weakest conferece.

Unless you are not counting the Big East as a big league, in which case, I'd agree.

Good job WVU Dad.  All of the BCS leagues have very good teams at the top.  We all get that the SEC has 1 or 2 top programs than the other leagues right now, but they are also one of only 2 leagues who has had a 12 team conference for a substantial time period.  The ACC is a new 12 team conference essentially and the Big 12 is quite comparable to the SEC IMO.

So many times people want to compare conferences, but they really are comparing apples to oranges.  For instance, to show that the SEC has more players drafted by the NFL than the Big10 or Pac10 makes no sense at all.  12 teams vs 11 teams vs 10 teams = NOT THE SAME.

Add Boise St and Fresno St/Utah to the Pac10 or ND to the Big10 and all of a sudden the SEC doesn't have more elite programs.  I am not saying that Fresno or Utah are elite but they are solid for sure and if they were in the Pac10 who knows.  It's really a silly debate to argue that VT couldn't win the SEC some years.  Who the hell knows?  All we know is that VT is an elite program who can compete with anyone in the country most seasons (don't give me any LSU 48-7 references).

The first goal of any school is to win their conference championship.  It is hard to do in all of the BCS leagues and those teams who pull it off should be congratulated and recognized as the best of the best.

How can you say?  The league in its current state is entering its 4th season.  There are established great programs and several others on the rise.  South Florida could become a dominant football school and Louisville, Cincinnati and Connecticut are all programs who could become nationally legitimate programs.

Their largest stadium holds what, 60,000? Not a big league, I'm sorry. We have high schools down here with bigger stadiums. How hard could a road game in the Big East be? The 1AA Southern Conference is much tougher.

Boise St beat the Big 12 champ also.
