For the SEC (except Florida maybe), I guess I just actually might mean traveling.

rcooke,

Not sure I understand this one.  Does this mean Florida gets a bye or does it mean they travel or what exactly?

What if a team plays lots and lots of BCS opponents but those opponents aren't necessarily outside the "region"?   Is there a difference in a good (not great) opponent that is say less than 1000 miles away vice a good (not great) opponent that is more than 1000 miles away?  Both opponents are BCS teams and both have a good CFB tradition....top 40 all time or so.

Cal wound up unranked but beat #12 Tennessee by 14 points. USF beat up #15 Auburn at Auburn. I would not get too hung up on the rankings.

Cal also went on to beat highly touted Oregon in Autzen Stadium.  An Oregon team that had Dennis Dixon.  They then had their QB get hurt and the team fell apart.  Thats why they call it college football.  Florida and Bama beat UT far worse than Cal did and Bama was no better than Cal.  And the year before average Tennessee badly beat PAC 10 Runner Up Cal, leading 35-0 before calling off the "Vols".

Exactly how did USF "beat up" Auburn when they won the game in Overtime?  USF went on to beat WVU for the second straight year.  They also fell apart at the end of the season.  It happens all the time, every year in college football  Teams start strong, fade in the middle and finish strong.  Teams start slow and finish strong.  Teams start fast and fade.

r u kidding me????  look at LSUs road schedule....LSu plays in the SEC and its even number years are rough...and Fresno State, who will play ANYbody anywhere, turned LSU down this time....

dont be bitter because Ohio State plays in a weak (ranked 5th...i thought that was a little high....hehe) conference.

i hope u liked the food in New Orleans last January....lmao!!

cooke, this is incorrect. LSU played 7 home games and 6 road games. Apparently you are counting Tulane as a home game. Do we also count games at UCLA, Stanford and Cal as home games for the Trojans?

Come again?

August 30 at Mississippi State W 45-0 1-0 (1-0)

September 8 No. 9 Virginia Tech W 48-7 2-0 (1-0)

September 15 Middle Tennessee W 44-0 3-0 (1-0)

September 22 No. 12 South Carolina W 28-16 4-0 (2-0)

September 29 at Tulane W 34-9 5-0 (2-0)

October 6 No. 9 Florida W 28-24 6-0 (3-0)

October 13 at No. 17 Kentucky L 43-37 6-1 (3-1)

October 20 No. 17 Auburn W 30-24 7-1 (4-1)

November 3 at No. 17 Alabama W 41-34 8-1 (5-1)

November 10 Louisiana Tech W 58-10 9-1 (5-1)

November 17 at Mississippi W 41-24 10-1 (6-1)

November 23 Arkansas L 50-48 10-2 (6-2)

December 1 No. 14 Tennessee W 21-14 11-2 (6-2)

January 7 vs No. 1 Ohio State W 38-24 12-2 (6-2)

I counted 5 away games. Maybe I am missing something? @ Miss st, @Tulane, @Kentucky, @Alabama, @Miss

LSU did play a better OOC last year. Notre Dame and Nebraska sucked. Hopefully, no one says that about USC this year with OSU coming to town!

They have had some awesome OOC away games. See Miami and Florida.

-- Come on Bigdawg. You know what I mean very well. You are a smart guy. See Florida about the region. I mean more games not at home and against quality BCS opponents. I think traveling outside the region is a huge bonus because you usually do not bring a huge fan base. At least that was my experience with UCLA vs Alabama, USC vs Auburn and Cal vs Tennessee.
