Upton makes early exit vs. Orioles

Center fielder leaves in fifth with possible shoulder injury

BALTIMORE -- B.J. Upton had to leave Thursday afteroon's game against the Orioles in the fifth inning with what appeared to be a shoulder injury.

Upton, who had doubled and struck out in his previous two trips to the plate, swung at a 1-1 pitch from O's left-hander Brian Burres, then crumpled to the ground holding his left shoulder. The extent of the injury is not yet known.

Nathan Haynes replaced Upton and finished Upton's at-bat by striking out; according to the rule, the strikeout went down as Upton's.

Upton is hitting .294 with three home runs and 21 RBIs.

That's bad news for the Rays if it's serious

I'm with you BUCCS469, this has happened before, he should get one or two days off and be back in the line-up very soon.

Let's try and take two in Boston and make this road trip a positive.  So far, so good.  Keep it going Rays.

Go Rays!!
