Ok, ive watched all the you tube highlights, ive heard all the so called positives and negatives, I want your guys opinion on Darren McFadden. You guys should know him better then anyone. You all have actually watched him play in and play out, not just his high light runs. Any feed back would be help, thanks guys.

Can't help you.  All I've seen is the highlight reels.  A lot of them, but that's it.  I still stand by what I said before the draft, that I still haven't seen much in the way of power.  He is definitely fast, and elusive, and the PFW experts rave about his power, so we'll just see.

Well Mcfadden has got the speed, he could use a few more pounds. I think it really depends on how they use him. he will be a good runningback and i think will be a good back to throw to out of the backfield. I think he will do pretty good in the NFL.

DMac can be easy to tackle near the line of scrimmage if his legs get wrapped up by a defensive lineman or a big linebacker, not so much because he can't run through them, but more because he will just go ahead and go down and save himself for the next opportunity. However, if you get him into a seam and he can see downfield he will run over you, through you, around you or by you. Put him one on one with anybody and he will throw the old style stiff arm and knock you off of him. For lack of a better description, he is Eric Dickerson with speed and better field vision.

Hope that helps.

Later!

He is a great running back.  He has a strong upper body but a so so lower body power.  The post before was right on when he said that if he sees a hole-he is gone.  If the Raiders have a good o line then he will do great.  I have seen some concerns on the Raider page about his fumbles-don't worry about them.  Before D Mac we had Matt Jones and I guess from Jones to D Mac we did not notice the fumbles that much.  Jones fumbled in any big play.  He will hold on to the ball fine.  By the way the Raider Nation just got a bigger on this past Saturday-now it extends all the way into Arkansas.  We tend to support our local kids all the way until the end.  Go Raiders!!!

First of all, I have to admit that growing up I hated the Raiders.  I was a Steelers and Broncos fan.  Now I'm a HUGE Raiders fan.  The bandwagon pulled up in my driveway on Saturday and I jumped on with both feet.

On DMAC, the only thing that ever stopped him was poor O-line play (Auburn game) and putting two "spys" on him full time (we didn't have a passing attack to worry about).  In a straight up game where the defense is playing honest, no one could stop him.  In the NFL, everyone is fast, so it's hard to tell how his talent will translate, but I think if the O-line can open up any kind of hole he'll get 5 yards guaranteed and go the distance if he gets in the open field.  We've seen too many busts in the NFL though, so there are no gaurantees.

If you want an example of him getting tough yards, watch this past year's Arkansas-Alabama game.  He took the game over in the second half, lowering his shoulder on every run, and knocking people back.  He got a concussion in the fourth quarter and had to sit out while the Razorbacks lost a close one.  If he had stayed in the game, there was no way the Tide could have stopped him.

I agree that Eric Dickerson is the best comparison to McFadden.

McFadden reminds me of OJ Simpson. The running back version, not the "I'm Innocent" version! He runs kind of pigeon toed and he is very explosive. He does have more power than the so called experts want to speak about. He should be a fan favorite out Oakland way as long as the "O" line holds up and Russell can complete a pass or two here and there.

Instant Excitment!! That would sum it up to me...

That is the what McFadden is going to bring to Oakland. If Kiffin has any coaching abilities and Russell can make a few completions McFadden will put on a show. There is no doubt in my mind that he can make the same kind of impact Peterson did last year for the Vikings. He is a different style player but has the same game changing abilities. I have been to about 80% of the games McFadden played in his college career and many of the HS games he played and will tell you that he is a difference maker. He carried the Hogs to a vast majority of their wins while on campus as did Felix Jones the other part of the 1-2 combo. So all you guys need to do down there is put heat on the ownership/coaches and the Raider organization as a whole to get the offense a bit balanced and tuned up and McFadden will take care of the rest. He is definately going to be the fan favorite for many years to come!

I think that everyone down their will be flexing their guns and raving about the 501 Boy all season long!

Darren McFadden is 6'2" about 220...He can run, pass, catch, and block.  He played Safety, QB, and RB in high school, so the athleticism is there...People like to talk about his legs, but if you watch film on him, you see him lower the boom on alot of defenders.  He doesn't shy away from hits (which he should do more in the NFL if he wants to last) and is not afriaid to run between the tackles...I am now a Raider Fan!  I just hope Kiffin uses him correctly...My question is...why are the Raiders trying to get Shaun Alexander when they not only just drafted McFadden, but they have 3 other backs?!

I too would have used the OJ comparison - being old enough to have seen them both play.

My concerns would be his head lowering move (concusions) and his feet (injuries - a good trainer will need to keep an eye on his feet).  He is a great athelete and will provide a show.

I too heard that the black and silver was after Alexander and wondered why.  ???

I lived in Arkansas unitl joining the Marine Corps and my son now attends the UofA and have been a hog fan forever and have always loved the Raiders.  Now with all of that said, I believe that Felix Jones might be the better back of the two.  DMAC has the size and all but he was not always on the field for the big plays and I am not sure just how much of a team player he is.  I hope the best for him and Raiders.

Well one thing is for sure DMAC has seen plenty of stacked lines and this year will no  different. The Raiders have a rookie QB so you better believe everyone will be stacking the lines aginst them so he should feel right at  home. I look for him to have a big year.
