Well, we lost. We lost bad. But tonight, Brian Burres tries to stretch his scoreless streak to around 20 inning.
PS. Sorry I did not do my part in the thread about career records vs. each other. Tuesday night, I was busy, and last night I was not around a computer.
Yeah, it was a pretty bad lose. McCroy will hopefully blow this outing off and come back in a better situation and pitch. I agree that it was a tough situation to be in, but they got to learn someday.
I know there were some base running problems, but this team has to play VERY aggressive in order to be competitive. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I still love the aggressive play.
It looks like we have the better match up today, so hopefully we can take the series this afternoon...............plus I'll be at the game, so it'll be nice to see a win. I really wanna see a 3 run HR from Jones :)
I guess the biggest difference is that all of these pitchers elected to have surgery. While their velocity may be down, it seems that they eventually became good, if not better, pitchers by learning how to pitch with better mechanics and pitch selection. I guess time will tell with Loewen.
I actually feel worse for the position Sarfate was put in than McCrory. Although it sucks that 3 runners McCrory left on all scored. I don't think it was a bad situation for McCrory to step into at all. We brought him up to rest the remainder of the 'pen, Albers went six. I think the reasoning was to let McCrory work 1 or 2, and then our reliable guys would only need to work one or two and be fresh going back out west. You always want to win every game, but I think it was an almost concession to how well Sonnanstine was pitching. Figure either McCrory keeps it close and we have a shot to win, or he gives up a couple and we're rested. Barring the disaster it ended up being, it was win-win.
Indeed jazz, but those guys are still the exception to the rule. It at least doesn't appear as though Loewen's labrum was badly damaged and he was very good in the WBC and in glimpses during his time in the majors before these forearm/elbow issues. If they would just take their time working him back around and into shape, he'd probably be okay. If they keep rushing him like this, it's going to be bad. Perhaps they can amend Adam's contract with his permission to allow him to spend significant time in the minors working his mechanics and arm strength back to where they should be.
That would be the best case scenario. I don;t see why Loewen wouldn't want that either. Obviously the Orioles believe in him and have a lot invested in him. Maybe MacPhail can work his magic there also.
I want that for him. I think when he is healthy, the sky is the limit. He has great stuff, great make-up and a drive to be the best and to be a leader and a winner. This kind of injury requires special attention and if they don't allow his body to fully recover at a reasonable pace, they are going to hurt him. He may fully tear his labrum next time or need TJ surgery next. We have got to take our time with him. If we ruin his arm, none of that stuff above means anything.
Well, we did lose two games, just not the two I thought we would. Burres did ok, but Garza was great today and really only made one bad pitch to Jones for that home run (just for you, Skeeters.) On to Anaheim, I'll get on that shortly. Was wondering where your part was DR, glad it's coming back in the next edition.
Yea, you posted it tuesday a few hours before the game, I forgot, noticed it around 6:30, had to go to the store, and oops sliped my mind when it was game time.
Well, looks like I'll be up till 1 saturday morning watchin the game on the ol' laptop. As soon as the new one gets published(If I'm home on internet) I will be bringing back the segment.
Yeah and I just realized the Angels don't play until tonight, so I have to wait for that game to be over to get Anaheim's record. Won't be until either late tonight or tomorrow sometime.
Hey fellas...............I kinda called the Adam Jones HR!! it was awesome. and you wanna know something even cooler, his HR was hit RIGHT TO ME SEAT!! only problem was I moved underneath for that inning because the rain was getting a little heavy :(
Well, another tough game lost. but its nothing to hang our heads over. We played a really good Tampa team and we were in all the games for the most part. I also got to talk to Garrett Olson before the start of today's game. What a great guy. I told him he pitched great the other day and he seemed to really enjoy that part of the conversation. DC was also out there signing autographs. He's really funny and laid back.
I tried to tell you guys that. The Rays are, at worst, the third best team in the division. Definitely better than us and better than Toronto. New York is without A-Rod and now Phil Hughes too as he has a stress fracture in one of his ribs and will be gone a couple months. They may even beat out the Yankees, but I don't believe they finish any lower than third unless they suffer a lot of injuries. The Rays are for real.
