I am excited about the upcoming football season! Everywhere I look online all of the early predictions for the Hogs are either fifth or sixth in the West. I am glad no one thinks we are going to be any good! Coach Petrino has got a great staff and I feel that he will not get outcoached in any games this year. Yes, I know we have lost some serious talent this year, I watched the NFL Draft. how could a team so talented just go 8-4 then get slobberknockered by Mizzou in the Cotton Bowl???? Anyone who truly knows football, know that games are won on the line of scrimmage and Coach Petrino keeps saying that our Offensive and Defensive lines are a strong point! I think we are going to surprise so people and I look for London Crawford and D.J. Williams to make all SEC this year! Go Hogs!

Well i se it like this. We lost what carried us last season, i see the hogs having a rough time next season. I sure hope Petrino can turn it around real quick, but doing it by next season will be hard.

The Hogs are gonna make some serious noise. Mark it down we are going to be a high caliber team this year. Nobody talked about Kansas, Mizzou, Georgia, etc last year so i will stand by my heart and believe that anything can happen. Michael smith looked amazing in the spring game and the installation of the pas game is only going t open up our running game. We will find our niche and our schedule has all the making of an upsetting season!!!! Fla, bama, lsu all at home. there will be some upsets and i love the fact that we are getting zero respect! let them underestimate us because it will only make us better.

bobby knows how to coach at the college level, no doubt about that. but in the thick of conference play, look for him to bail and start coaching tennessee after phil fulmer's fat a$$ gets run out of knoxville.

Oh come on now dirty.....Petrino has to hang around for a little while or no one will give him a shot! I think he stays at Arkansas for at least five years.

Honestly, I don't see fat Phil going anywhere, at least for a whie. Tenn fans tried to oust him last year and that started a huge uproar. I will be positive about Petrino, but his history is a little shakey. I will reserve my judgement. RazorbackG, I have to say I am as excited as you are about football coming back in. I can't wait...

The Hogs are going to make some noise, but the question is whether it will be positive or negative. I was at the spring game and saw a lot to be happy about, but I also walked away knowing that this was the first string against the second string and wondered if this play would stand up in an SEC game.
Michael Smith did look good, but it was against the second string defense. I was more impressed with Barnett making his runs against the first string defense than I was with Smith running in wide open spaces against the second teamers. I also think that DeAnthony Curtis can be a difference maker depending on how much work he puts in between now and fall practices. It would not surprise me in the least to see him get plenty of reps with Barnett and see Smith get squeezed out of the rotation and become a change of pace back.
Hooray, Casey looked comfortable in the pocket! Never would have thought it possible, but he showed a lot of poise and made some good throws. On the down side though, he is still gun shy about throwing the deep ball. The play will be there and he will cock and load but not fire. Hopefully that will change with more time in this offense.
The first team defense looked good, especially the D-line. The D-backs, looked a little soft compared to what we have had, however, Ramon Broadway on the white squad looked like he made a case to be considered a starter after the spring game and could be a possible shut down corner if he continues to work.
The receivers looked good catching the ball at times, but obviously will need more work and get used to the idea of having balls thrown their way anytime anywhere after having to take naps during the games in the HDN offensive system.
Totally different offensive scheme, very exciting to watch! A solid defensive line, decent linebackers and OK defensive backs leads to the possibility of a fantastic season. Prior to watching the spring game I thought that 6-6 would be OK, but now I am thinking a good bowl game is a possibility and if our weaknesses continue to be improved upon who knows where we can go.
OK, I am done with my novella.
Later!

"Totally different offensive scheme, very exciting to watch!"
I have waited many years for a balanced attack from the Hogs. Many coaches have promised it, but they all seem to go back to run, run, run. While this scheme has been somewhat successful some of the time, it never seems to work in the big games.
Thanks for the insight bdh - I would have thought that this would surely be a "rebuilding" year for the Hogs, but college FB today, seems like most teams lose their best players every year, and rebuilding doesn't take as long as it used to.
So I am hoping for a surprise season from the Hogs. Should be exciting!
