Hey everyone. I just got back from the Spring Game - it was pretty cool to see the guys come out of the tunnel to the cheers of 15,000 Bruin fans.
There are a lot of factors that could have contributed to my observations, but here they are nevertheless.
1. I think we are all going to really like Courtney Viney. The game started with some special teams work, and he looked like the most dynamic returner. He also showed great speed and athleticism in coverage.
2. Brian Price is a BEAST, and is going to have an all-conference season (or it could be that our O-line needs work. I think both).
3. Osaar Rashhan should and probably will be our starting quarterback. He threw some pretty balls today, and we are going to need an elusive QB.
4. We REALLY need a WR to stretch the field. Rosario, Moutra, Johnson - these guys are going to have a chance to play right away if they can get behind a secondary.
5. It was quite a strong image at the end of the game when Olson and Cowan were both on crutches at the center of the field. We have some big dudes on that O-line, but the quarterbacks had VERY little time all day.
6. The offense looked - most of the time - nauseatingly like it did last year. I am resting my hope on the fact that Bell, Carter, and, of course, none of the freshmen played. The defense, though, definitely has stars in Verner, Price, and Carter.
Overall, it was a good night and fun to see guys in pads hitting other guys in pads again.
