Maybe this well be a sign of things to come for Ryan Howard.

Hopefully he gets out of his slump, we are going to need

him to help make up for the loss of Jimmy Rollins.

As much as I liked him hitting a homerun tonight, he struck out twice and that is not good. He is on pace to strike out 50% of his at bats! I hope he can get out of this funk, but even if he bats .300 fromt his point forward, he will still set the strikeout record again this year. Maybe that  1 year contract is the best thing that happened to the Phillies. In essence, if they do end up trading him if he has a terrible season, that 10 million was essentially just back pay for the better seasons he has had, and they don't lose anything else in the end. I don't care how many homeruns you hit, you can't strike out 250 times a year. You are just not a good hitter, if that is the case, plain and simple.

He still struck out 2 times. Until he cuts down on those I wont believe he is out of the slump. Watching him lunge for those sliders is nauseating.

Agreed. Charlie will eventually have to sit him, at minimum against lefties, if this continues for the next several weeks. The only thing that is saving him now is that other players are hurt, and others (Werth, Burrell, Utley) are carrying the team. I don't care how much you pay him, this will eventually hurt the team. Play your hottest guys every night. The Philles are capable of moving players around the field unlike most teams, so that shouldn't matter, just play your best players every night, not the guys who get the biggest paychecks.  Werth definitely deserves to be starting every night. He has earned it. I don;t care about Victorino, he can play as long as he hits. You don't lose anything in the field if he isn't in. Obviously, his speed doesn't help on base if he never gets on. I give him a few weeks and if he isn't performing, sit him. Rollins will be back shortly, and there is your speed at the top of the lineup. Don't change what is working. Obviously, you play Jimmy, that is a given, but don't change anyting else right now.

Ugh. My numbers 1 & 2 fantasy picks (Howard and Reyes) are slumping. It's like they went on vacation together. It seems the past two weeks the each coulda made up for that in 1 game, normally.

I hate slumps. It is official.
