I think our WR'S will look like this. Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones, Koren Robinson, Jordy Nelson on the out side looking in Ruvell Martin but it would not be much of a reach to think we could keep 6 WR's but Donald Driver is going no place as of now TT would be a fool to get rid of him. You don't just drop a player like DD after one of the greatest players in the NFL retires. Because a lot of people think it's his fault that Brett left then to make a player that is very popular with us fans leave would be career suicide in Green Bay.

You know, it's funny. I'm not pointing any fingers here but I've noticed that when Brett retired a lot of us were saying he shouldn't have because he gave us a great shot at winning a superbowl this year. That's fine, I'm not debating that.
The thing is though, as soon as someone hypothetically suggests that Donald Driver may have to go because his talents have slipped and someone has moved past him on the depth chart (again I'm not giving an opinion on that either) a lot of us also are saying no way.
Does anyone think that there is just a little bit of favouritism, if not hypocrisy in that?

1.  Jennings already is the No. 1 reciever on the team.  He would have had more yards then Driver had he not been injured the first few games.

2. Nelson is a great talent, look him up on youtube. He's a stud.  I could see Driver moving into a 3rd receiver /slot role after this season with Nelson and Jennings as wideouts.

3. How great would Brohm, Jennings and Nelson look together for the next 10 years?

4. If Driver leaves, do I need to make a new CBS account?

I don't think so oz. I guess some favoritism maybe. But when we have a player that has done what he has done in his career, especially as a 7th rounder, that is how things should be. Those are the players you want around for other reasons then his play. His leadership, mentoring, and character are not replaceable in the draft. Driver is a team player, and a playmaker. He isn't a T.O., or a C.J., or a Meshawn. He is a Green Bay Packer. That is how I see this. If Favre came back with another team, it would suck. I hope that doesn't happen. Takes away from him, who he is, and the Packers. IMO.

DDriver80, I'd say no. But I know what you'd pick!!!

We as fans tend to get a little bit sentimental over the players who have become fan favorites. Favre retired yes... but he knew it was his time and he should be commended for knowing when it was time to go. I don't think it's DD's time yet. I think he has another year or two. After all, he has missed very few games, and dodged "the big one" on opening day in 2003, so he has that behind him (I hope). I agree with the poster above me. You can't replace knowledge gained on field with a new draftee. People have been doubting Driver his whole football career, he's too this, he's too that, now he's too old? C'mon now... only 2% of college athletes ever play in the NFL and those who make it the average career is only 2 years. Driver's in his 9th year? How much more does the guy have to do on or off field to get the recognition he deserves?

However, I do have an out-there idea. Considering the fact that we don't have a second tight end (well, other than Tory Humphrey), maybe Mike McCarthy could develop a six receiver formation utilizing Nelson as a tight end. Considering his size, maybe playing him like a tight end would work well. Whatever you think about the pick, though, you have to admit that he fits the mold of the offense perfectly. Maybe he can be rotated in on certain formations to allow for the receivers to stay fresh.

That would be a great formation, but it's impossible. 5 Lineman + 1 QB + 5 WR + 1TE = 12 players.
5WR set is the max.

I'm not sure but i think he might have been using some sarcasm.

Anyways, I don't think Ruvell Martin should be released. He has really improved over the past year. Towards the end of the season he became a big threat in the redzone, and I think he is probably one of our best blocking WRs...

Your thoughts?

Yeah, that is the only thing I've been hung up with on the Jordy Nelson pick.  Who will end up being the odd man out.  I really like the 5 receivers we already had on the roster.  The most expendable might be Koren Robinson (though I think Robinson is a good player and I'd like the Packers to keep him).  With Nelson's return skills, I'm not sure he has anything unique to offer from the other receivers.  Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and James Jones are all locks to make the team.  Ruvell Martin has really good size and is physical.

It's really a tough call, but I'm sure Thompson had a plan in mind.

Donald Driver is like Brett Favre when it comes to loving the Packers. He lives for them, and he'd die for them.
