Man I see where you guys are coming from. I was high on James Hardy and Limas Sweed. But I look at who we selected and I say we were successful. Kentwan Balmer was high on my list of guys and he was a need.  Then in the 2nd Rd we selected Chilo Rachal. I know that at the end of the day we did what was a major need. Plus Mario Manningham and Early Doucet are available even though I believe in the 3rd Rd we be grabbing either Carl Nicks or Anthony Collins. Im not as worried anymore as I was about drafting WR. We need to protect our man Alex Smith. He does have targets in Vernon Davis, Bryant Johnson, and Isaac Bruce. But we need pass rush also to protect our guys like Nate Clements in the secondary to allow them to make more plays. Don't worry Mike Martz will do wonders with the offense we already have.

I hear ya Ireed... I was yelling at the damn TV when they passed on my boy Jackson in the 2nd!!!

But if we REALLY intend on giving Smith a chance in Martz offense, we some peeps upfront that we can rely on. The left, center and right side look good on paper, but come Sunday, same ol results...

With the loss of ol faithful, we need an in your face, boot stomping D-Line. We got the backs. We just need some guys that'll make sure Hasselbeck, Bulger and Lienart don't have 10 seconds in the pocket to squeez in some "Where's the PENLATY!!!" sloppy piece of s%@& pass.

Battle, Bryant, Bruce (Also known as mentor or old man strength), Asssshley, Gore and Davis. If these guys can't get us deep, like old time deep, into the playoffs, we need more than some 2nd rounder collegate WR!!!

I was yelling at my TV the whole time the 49ers were on their second round pick. I knew that no one would go for a WR in the first round, the WRs this year are not that good, but a second round pickup is needed at WR. Nothing against Rachal, I think he will fit in nicely, but I think that pick could have been used a lot better and at a much needed area: WR, eventhough these guys are not that premier WR threat, they can create space.

I liked these picks. They were smart picks not playmaker picks. We picked up two wide receivers via free agency, and we still have Jason Hill who hasn't got any PT and is basically the same as any of the receivers on the board. They lost B.Y and replaced him with Smith, but still needed someone for the other end. The O-Line obviously needed help, and since there was such a rush on guys in round 1 we took the best available in round 2. Receivers are still there that are just as talented as the ones taken off the board with Doucet, Manningham and the kid from Florida, even the kid from Vandy. All of whom played at a high level in big time conferences.

Come on guys we had a good draft. I dont believe that we need a WR yet. If anything we have enough. Balmer is a NT not a DE so picking a NT and a G wich is someting we needed then hey we are doing great. If none of you guys understand all the WR this year are really mediocre and what i believe is going to happen on the second day is Dan Connor we will get or if he is gone then look for the next available player. If you want to talk a bad draft look at the seehawks, a DE who really wasnt much of an impact player as the the other two DE from clemson and Miami, then a tightend when they had a chance at Fred Davis still. Now thats stupid.

Not even going to lie... I'm pretty pissed we didn't pick up Desean Jackson... in the second round of all places.  But I do think that we are extremely lucky that Early Doucet and Mario Manningham are still around.  I'm actually kind of hoping we make a trade for another third round pick so we can get not only a great WR but also Dan Connor from Penn State to complement Patrick Willis

dont worry guys, the 49ers are doing the right thing. games are won and lost on the offensive and defensive lines. and we just addressed both of them. those WR you all want wont be catching any passes with Smith or Hill on the ground. I would love to see us get Carl Nicks from Nebraska, the guy is huge! He would definitely help anchor the O line. It seems we are good on D line now, (we still have McDonald and Cohen from last years draft). WRs like Earl Bennett and Andre Caldwell are still on the board if the 49ers want to go in that direction. Hopefully we can add another DB to our secondary. And possibly another LB and OT. that would end up addressing all our our needs.

even though i was shocked to not see a quentin grooves, or a sweed. i like our picks as of right now, we really needed to adress the o and d line, and we have two new huge young solid players in the lineup. i have no regrets as of the choice. woo.
