Los Angeles Angels? The Name Is A Joke

Arte Moreno has now gone too far!  Tell me, if the Angels are playing in Orange County, why would you call them "The Los Angeles Angels"?  It dosen't make any sense.  Well, you know what, you can call them "Los Angeles Angels", or the "Disneyland Angels" for all I care.  To me, they will always be considered "The California Angels", and the stadium that they are playing in will always be Anaheim Stadium, as far as I'm concerned.

If anything, I would associate the Angels more to Santa Ana, then I would to Los Angeles, considering the fact that when I lived in Montebello(5 miles East of Los Angeles), to get to Anaheim Stadium, I had to take the Santa Ana Freeway - Santa Ana(Interstate 5 South), and exit on Katella Avenue, the same Katella Avenue that would take you to Disneyland.

I go as far back with the Angels when they were on KTLA-Channel 5, with Dick Enberg was the Play-By-Play Man, and Don Drysdale as the Color Man for the Angels.  Back to the days of Bruce Bochte, Joe Lahoud and Dave Chalk(Anybody remember them?), that's how far back I go with them.

I can not, for the life of me, call them "The Los Angeles Angels".  No way!  Everytime I were to watch an Angels Game, I would block out the LAA on the Scoreboard, and change it to CAL.  Maybe it's just me, but I am just too used to the name "California Angels".

I know that Arte Moreno is trying to get the Los Angeles Market to buy into the Angels, but with the way the Dodgers are starting to go South, He really does not have to try that hard in doing so, considering that it is the Angels now, who are the better Baseball Team in Southern California(No disrespect to the Padres).  I can not say Los Angeles area, because I can not consider Anaheim as a part of Los Angeles, not if it is outside the Los Angeles County Line.

In short, Arte Moreno should do the Fans, and the City of Anaheim a huge favor, and just rename the Angels, the "California Angels".

This is old news man. No one likes it, but he's the owner...and if he's going to keep shelling out the bucks to keep us competitive and make the fan experiene at the Big A as good as ever, he can the call the team whatever the hell he wants...they're just the Angels to me.

He's the best owner the organization has ever had...by far. Gene Autry is beloved, but he didn't put as much money into the team as he could have and always signed aging or aged veterans who were 5 years past their prime. The team is in better shape than at ANY point in its history...enjoy it.

I myself am not a fan of the name LA Angels although it is starting to grow on me and the reason Arte Moreno changed it from Anaheim to LA was for marketing reasons that is why they are now the 6th most profitable team in baseball

Quite frankley I never was a big fan of the name California Angels either

HALOS02 I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you about  Gene Autry first of all free agents didn't cost as much as today as for players past ther prime he got players like Grich, Baylor, Rudi, Downing, Lynn, Bostock, DeCinces, Ford, among others while they were just in there prime

yes players like Bob Boone and Reggie Jackson were heading towards the end of there careers but they were mighty contributers

Who cares what the team name is...

Bottomline is, our Angels are winning games and that is all that matters.

I could care less if they named them spank monkey angels as long as they were winning games.

It's really sad on how this is still being brought up. This is old news and other then the clown that made this post.......... Who cares!!!!

I hate the nam also, and the Court decision was actually legally incorrect.  However, it is old news and time to move on.

For the life of me, that name is just sticking to my Craw, and I just can not shake it off.  I just hope that one day that Arte Moreno will have some sense, and just do the right thing.  I am pretty sure that the Anaheim City Council is getting more and more steamed about this.  I know I would be if I was the Mayor of Anaheim.

Even though the Angels are winning games, and it makes no difference, still, it's like purchasing a Picasso, and having an Idiot accidentally squirt a tiny speck of something on it.  You may not see it from far, but it's there, and you will never take if off for as long as you own that painting.  And sooner or later, it will be getting annoying to you.

That's all I wanted to say.  And may the "Los Angeles Angels" win the World Series!
