No GM in his right mind would trade a first round pick for a second and a fourth.  Nor would they trade a first for two thirds.  To even think that's what Hurney and Fox should have offered the Eagles (or whomever they would offer the two thirds for next year's first) is preposterous.  You ain't gonna move back up into the first without either giving up two seconds or next year's first.

To assume someone is going to be injury prone simply because they had to have surgery in college is also laughable.  Remember Willis McGahee?  He didn't even play his rookie season!  However, he's sure produced since, and he's not been hurt any more than other running backs.   On the other side of the spectrum, there's Dan Morgan.  He didn't miss one game from injury before he got drafted.  We all know how that turned out.

You know the thing I like most about what transpired yesterday?  The Otah trade was completely out of nature for the ultra-conservative Fox.  I hope this is a start of things to come.  Without risk, there's little reward.

So I saw on charlotte.com that the doctor who did the operation on Stewart for turf toe was the Panther's Doc. Hopefully they know something that no one else knows.

Now I'm in agreement. We need a DT, Pat Sims was on the board in the third round and we didn't take him.

We did get Otah. But we gave up a king's ransom for him.

I don't get why you all think picking Stewart was iffy?! He has surgery on his Turf toe so what?! It's relatively minor surgery and he ran VERY fast with it!! Imagine him now that he'll be 100% Mendenhall couldn't even play himself off the bench last year.

RCase28715  and others really need to stop complaining about this draft.

Jonathan Stewart was the most complete, perhaps the best, back in this draft. He is a beast and will be a perfect compliment to DeAngelo Williams.

And trust me, you could not have gotten Jeff Otah by trading down. There were alot of teams that coveted him including the Chargers, and the Chargers' O-line was better than the Panthers' last year. You can never have an o-line that is too dominant. Otah and Stewart will make the Panthers run game dominant again next year. A dominating run game automatically makes the defense better because they have to spend less time on the field. It also make the pass offense better because opposing teams have to respect the run more and can't key in on what was in the past the ONLY explosive player on the field, Steve Smith.

Write this down: The Panthers will challenge for the NFC South next year and this draft will be a big part of it.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that with Derrick Harvey off the board the DE position was a moot point. No one was left worthy of the 13th pick.

I 100% concur. This ridiculous BS from people on this board trashing this thread. Again I will state, Fox and Co. have been VERY GOOD at drafting over the years. We've consistently found starters in the draft and this year will be no different.

This oh we shoulda done this, we shoulda done that BS is retarded, especially coming from people that work at Fridgidaire and at the DMV. The Panthers player personnel people do this for a living. It's their jobs to scout and estimate talent, they know way more than any of us in this arena and in case you people have forgotten, other than a couple of serious injury plagued years, this Panthers franchise has been nothing short of stellar. Until we start putting together consistently terrible years, stop with the bitching please. Its juvenile.

Tell it like it is, ncgrudge!

The purity of your logic just put you on my Favorites List.

Go, Panthers!
