I must love to lose because I don't know why I am a fan sometimes. We can't even get a win with Aaron on the mound. I spent all winter pumped because my beloved Reds were starting to look good. Again here it is, a week before May, and I already feel like we are sinking. I just need to vent and this seems like the place to do it. Can anyone tell me why I spent 200 dollars on a Reds jersey?? Why I pay 200 dollars to watch every Reds game on TV???? I feel like the front office owes me money for putting me through hell each year.

I guess its' better than being a Cub fan. At least we haven't had to endure 100 years of futility. This has been a most disappointing start to the season. Every fan on this message board was worried about the Reds pitching in spring training. Now the pitching is doing very well, and the bats are about as cold as can be. I still think the hitting will come around. I just hope its' sooner than later. The Reds have dug themselves a serious hole already.

Yeah it's more like the Reds have had shovels instead of bats out there!

No, because then they would actually be able to hit the ball. This is the worst start I've ever seen for this team (granted I'm only 19), but still. Baker won't be fired, but changes do need to happen. Brook Jacoby needs to get fired. I say we pull an Oakland and just dump players left and right. At least we'd have a bright(er) future then...since we are incapable of winning now.

With some exceptions, the Reds have a history of going 20 years of wandering the desert before finding the promised land. The exception is the chunk of time that we call the Era of the BRM. Otherwise, you realize that $200 for a Reds jersey will be considered cheap someday and may actually be worth something on eBay.
If you want the long and short of why you are a fan, it's because you ... just are.
I grew up watching the team go year after year knowing they would not ever win the pennant. But when they won a game, even if they were mathematically eliminated on the last day of the season, it was a win.
A win is a win is a win!
I cannot express how I felt the day they won the 1961 pennant and the crushing reality that sank in when the Yankees manhandled them in game 5 at Crosley.

I feel the same way. The good news is...at this rate.....when I come up to see them play the Braves end of May, my 6th row tickets just past the Reds dugout may turn into front row seats, because nobody will be there.

I'm a Reds fan, but I can't watch a hideous team like this, I don't think there is anything wrong with being a fair weather fan. If the players don't care about winning why should we .

If you're a diehard fan, it's just in your genes. You have no control over it, so when times are bad, you just focus a bit more on your other favorite teams! Go Flyers! But part of being a fan when it's bad is trying to figure out how everything has gone wrong. This Reds team can't hit, and when they do, they can't seem to generate anything out of it. To me, that's the biggest problem, and that's a mentality problem. Only the manager and players can decide if they want to scrap for runs. Early on, I thought this team had that kind of spark, but they clearly don't... Too often, it just looks like guys who want to swing for the fence and pick up a fat paycheck.

I became a Reds fan growing up in Cincinnati. Lived here all my life and grew up watching Morgan, Rose, Lee May, Concepcion the list goes on and on. Listening to Marty and Joe on the Radio. Attending games at Crosley, Riverfront and now GABP. It's in the genes and indocrtrintated in the brain to follow these beloved Reds. Threw thick and thin they have my support.
