49ers Not only have a chance.....

Yeah, our skill positions aren't great.  Neither team has great wide receivers, and I think Davis will be a stud at TE eventually, and Gore's better than whoever we got.  But offensively, it starts on the line and at qb.  I like our O-line pretty good and Hasselbeck is well ahead of Smith at this point in their careers.  Defensively it is pretty close but i'd give the edge to the Hawks.  Martz i think will help the 9ers.  In fact, i predict he will double their PAS (Points against Seattle)  They'll score 6 points this year instead of 3.   LOL!  Nice talkin' smack with ya Popaplo.  I can't wait 'til we can settle in on the field.

Nice point, Pop.  Neither team has standout players at these positions.  Even the lines aren't great.  The only real differences I see is a Pro Bowl quarterback and the advantage of the offense not switching systems every other year.  Despite our mediocrity at several positions, the standout QB play and continued stability in the system will keep the Seahawks ahead of the pack for at least another year. 

But I have to admit I'm concerned about what Mora might do with the offense AND the defense - the offense survives on its system and QB, the defense doesn't need him coming in and screwing it up.  As long as John Marshall is defensive coordinator and they keep a similar level of talent they'll be fine. 

I have said that I think the Seahawks will be 8-8 this season. But if there is one team in the NFC West that does NOT worry me, it is the 9ers.

Until you get somebody better under center, you have no chance.

At least the Rams have Bulger.

At least the Cards can go back to Warner if Lienhart fails.

The 49ers are doomed with Smith. If Smith is as useless as everybody knows he will be, it makes Bruce and Bryant and Davis and anybody else you want to line up useless too. Jerry Rice is useless if Alex Smith is his QB. It also makes Gore worthless too, when you know you can stack 8 in the box because the QB is as solid as jello.

I'll say it. The 49ers went and got some pretty good talent at some skill positions. But, Alex Smith brings them all down.

You know the difference between the talent on the Hawks and the talent on the 49ers is that the Hawks have proven they can win with the guys they have...granted the 49ers just got some of their players but there is no reason to believe they will be any better then they were last year...

No one is saying that he Hawks are the Giants, Colts, Patriots, or Cowboys....were just saying that the 49ers aren't the Seahawks...and thats something that you should open your eyes too also before you are let down again this season..

Talent alone will never win you a championship...you can have all the talent you want but it doesnt translate to wins on the field and I dont see it translating any better then 6-10 for the 49ers this year...
