There is no other way!!!!!!

I am BAAAAAAAACKKK!

Yes guys I know you guys miss me.  One day before the draft, and I am already feeling good.  I was going to save this thread till after the draft but I couldn't resist.

9ers again have made a splash in free agency with their main acquisition being....(drum rollllllllllll)  yes you guessed it.... Justin Smith??  No sir not him.....Mike "the mad scientist" Martz!!

Although Justin Smith will have a signficant Impact in our Defense.  Our Defense wasn't really in desperate need in help as our Offense was.  No longer will teams such as the Seahawks be able to send 8 men blitzes because now we have a O.C. that can counter that.  Last season there were times when we countered it however D-Jack who received more cuss words from me than balls from our QB's dropped and or gave up on his routes.

Yes you guys were right on D-Jack he was Garbage.  I was wrong.

Although we have yet to get a playmaker WR we have upgraded with Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson.  Yes Isaac Bruce is Old as hell, however I think most of you will agree that he still has good hands and runs good routes.  He will definately be an upgrade.  Bryant Johnson gives us a big receiver to be able to fight off CB's for some first downs.  WE WILL FINALLY HAVE a COORDINATOR to take advantage of Vernon Davis talents.

Which will in turn get Gore back to his O6' form.

Our defense played well last year however they were on the field 70% of the game.  If the niners can hold on to the ball a little longer.  Our D will lock it down.

Sorry Seahawks your reign on the NFC WEST will officially end in 08'.

First of all props to you for sticking with your team. Hope always abounds in the pre-season.

Here's my question though - who is going to throw the ball? Please, please PLEASE tell me it will be Alex Smith - as a Seahawks fan I have to hope Alex Smith is the starting QB. If you tell me Shaun Hill - then ok - who knows. He had a couple decent games last year, but until he (or anyone else) actually does it for a full season I'm not sure I'd be so confident. Bruce will be lucky to stay healthy for the whole season - but Bryant (for some reason) always has good games against the 'Hawks - so you might have something there (if there was anyone to throw to him).

Wasn't the Mad Scientist in Det last year? I'm not saying that Kitna is an all-pro by any means, but he has proven himself much better than either Smith or Hill and they had far superior WRs to throw to. Gore and Davis are great and the D has some potential - I just think without a legit QB it all falls apart.

Here we go again...

Mike Martz is going to throw 60% of the time, so gore will never get into a rythm, Alex Smith will suck while throwing those passes to his terrible wide receivers, but the defense will be good.

The Rams scare me more than the Cardinals or 49ers.

SeahawksNo1Fan,

You have some valid points.  However I have confidence that if Alex Smith has some support out there he will be good.  I still don't think that it is fair to label him a bust.  He just has had too many hurdles for a young quarterback to have been able to clear.  The reason I say that he has potential to be a solid quarterback is because I have seen it.  People including our own 49er fans forget that he has shined in some games.  Granted it hasn't been as often as I would have liked he has shown it however.

Here are some examples:

The two games against the hawks in 06'.
The two games against the Cardinals in 06' even though we lost because our Defense played horrible that year.
The game winning drive against the cardinals in the season opener in 07in a a national televised game.
The game against the Broncos in Denver in 06' that prevented Denver from a playoff spot.

Iam probably missing a few.

Last year he was hurt, there was no running game, there was no pass protection because of ALLOUT blitzes which our O.C. had no answer for, and our receivers lead the league in dropped passes.

Martz's System is more creative and has more experience to be able to find ways to get the ball out faster against those blitzes.

If the 9ers can just have hold on to the ball a little more, our defense will come on the field fresh.  Which will be our strength.

I have been wrong, but please don't expect the same 9ers as last year.  We have the talent.  We just need the leadership.

Oh and about Martz being in Detroit.  If Detroit had our defense they would've made the playoffs.  If Kitna can throw for 4000 yards...I think Smith will be able to throw 3000 under Martz.  Yes they have better receivers.  Yet we have a far better running back and tight end.

He will find ways to get Gore in the open field one way or another.  Remember Marshall Faulk.

Granted Faulk is a better receiver.  However Gore in the Open field can make plays as good as any running back in the league.

Niners fans are relentless...gotta give them credit for believing athough...that will end come October as usual....but what has the 49ers problem been since they got Alex Smith??? They keep getting new Offensive Cordinators and Smith can't settle into one system...what did they do this offseason...changed OC's again....yeah that doesnt scare me at all...and the 49ers certainly dont scare me....

You seem to forget that the Seahawks have pretty good defense themselves...so your offense needs to get some better guys then just a new OC to try and beat us...

Martz was better off in Detroit..and thats saying something...

You do realize that with the exception of the week 1 game winning drive all your good moments from Smith are from 2 years ago right...?? So...with his good moments in 2006 you managed to go a whooping 6-10....man if he plays great you may get to 8-8!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!
